Are we doing Missions the Right way?
Read passage of Paul saying I’ll become this for that.
Imagine Their Point of View
How can we see missions from the reviewers way?
Foreigners are a large part of the problem. Because they stopped doing it. The people didnt even know who there spiritual leaders were anymore.
one Piece of Advice for doing missions
What I need is a brother who comes and gives me a shoulder to cry on, gives me space to express my pain, but doesn’t try to fix me.
The tendency to fix it has become a real issue.
“We’ve been fixed so many times we’re a real mess.”
One culture teaches you to love your neighbor, another teaches you to eat your neighbor, who’s to decide which of those is better.
We should do unto others, what we want them to do unto us.
The missionaries brought us the gospel it was like pure water, but they brought it in there container.
How can we take the pure gospel and put it into our environment, our community, to be affective for our time on this earth?
It’s suppose to be about the water, not the jar.
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
As Florence Muindi said “What type of missionary do you want to become?”
The want to have people involved in the teaching and being able to reach out, this is ever pastors Dream. That the community he or she is given, is involved, not to be looked up to, there’s only one to look up to and His name IS Christ Jesus. The Savior, The reconciler, the one who is and was and is to come. To have community means we have to throw out our personal containers and embody the people were surrounded by and bringing them to our side, The Side of Jesus Christ.
1). Don’t use complicated approach
2). Involve the people, doing missions with them, not to them.
3). Don’t be looked up to, but want them to be the ones to reach out.
This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed.
Luke 17. A servant has no rights, Stewards take care of God’s Mysteries.
Our tendency is to start fixing people, even before establishing a relationship with people. Ready shoot, aim.
If you want to serve God, don’t make up a project for Him. Find out what He needs and join him and follow Jesus in it!
What stands out to you in this lesson?
We want to teach it as we KNOW to teach it.
youre’ doing this and this wrong and were going to fix it. How would you take that
Seeing the pain and suffering and wanting to take it away, but he said to sit inside of that pain with them.
Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Don’t come to “fix” us.
Come to be our friends
Feel our pain.
Be servants, nor lords.
Do missions with people, not to them.
Understand the receivers point of view.
