In John 13:36–14:4, Jesus tells His disciples He is going away to prepare a place for them a way to the Father only He can provide. Peter’s bold promise to follow now meets Jesus’ reminder that without His sacrificial work, no one can enter God’s presence. As our eternal High Priest, Jesus offers His blood on the heavenly mercy seat, making the way for us to follow Him after we are transformed by His grace. The “place” He prepares is abiding with the Father, and the “way” is knowing Him personally. Whether bold, doubting, or seeking restoration, all are called to trust Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life, holding fast to His promise of eternal life in His presence.
