IS THERE A STIRRING IN YOUR SPIRIT? 2 Chronicles 36:22 “Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia—in order to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah—the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he sent a proclamation throughout his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,”
ARE YOU; ARE WE IN A STIRRING UP SEASON? A stirring up season is when God energizes people (saved or lost), through the Word (Voice), of God—to do the Will of God—by the Power of God—resulting in the Glory of God! Haggai 1:14 “So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel . . . the governor and the spirit of Joshua , the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,”
Here are some characteristics of when you might be sensing A Stirring In Your Spirit:
I. A NEED is REVEALED to you by the Lord! Genesis 2:18 “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone;
II. A PROMISE is MADE to you from the Lord! Genesis 2:18 “Then the Lord God said, . . .“I will make him a helper suitable for him.”
III. A FAITH is DEVELOPED in you by the Lord! Genesis 2:19 “Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.”
Let’s remember what God has revealed to Adam (its not good for you to be alone). Let’s remember what God has promised Adam (I will make him a helper suitable for him). Let’s try to imagine how much time might have elapsed after the need was revealed to Adam; the promise was made to Adam and it’s still not good for the man to be alone . . . God created every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man. WHY did God bring them to the man? To SEE what he would call them, and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name!
Could it be that your promise from God has not been fulfilled YET because God is waiting to SEE what you will call your DELAY? Or, to SEE if you will continue “ministering to the Lord (serving Him by walking and serving by faith)?
Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” James 1:4 “And let endurance (faith), have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:5 “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:6 “But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.” James 1:7 “For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,” Hebrews 10:35 “Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.” Hebrews 10:36 “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.” Your DELAY is setting you up for a SEASON of TRANSITION into the THING God has PROMISED you in the past! When you have been in a long season of divine delay, the THING you have BELIEVED for—PRAYED for—WAITED for—DECREED for—DECLARED for, but seems like it is not going to be fulfilled in your lifetime, don’t give up, God can resurrect dead people, places, marriages, and ministries! Ezra 4:24 “Then work on the house of God in Jerusalem ceased, and it was stopped until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.” After 70 years being in captivity, God used a pagan King of Persia named Cyrus to allow the Jews to return to Jerusalem. Two years later, construction on the temple began, led by Zerubbabel. However, the work stopped after two years. After 14 years of neglect, work on the temple resumed and was completed four years later (Ezra 6:14).
And to think, it all started by God Stirring the Spirit of pagans and believers! So, in closing, let’s take a closer look at what A STIRRING IN YOUR SPIRIT might look like!
IV. A STIRRING is EXPERIENCED by you from the Lord! Haggai 1:14 “So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel . . . governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,”
I have learned from Scripture and from my own personal experience there are at least four characteristics of a Stirring Up In The Spirit from the Lord:
A. God will APPEAR to you SUDDENLY during the season of your stirring! Judges 13:3 “Then the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman . . .” B. God will SPEAK to your CONDITION during the season of your stirring! Judges 13:3 “Then the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold now, you are barren and have borne no children . . .” C. God will PROPHESY into your BREAKTHROUGH during the season of your stirring! Judges 13:3 “Then the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold now, you are barren and have borne no children, BUT you shall conceive and give birth to a son.” D. God will FULFILL His PROMISE during the season of your stirring! Judges 13:24 “Then the woman gave birth to a son and named him Samson; and the child grew up and the Lord blessed him.”
When you steward the season of your stirring in faith, and you do not throw your confidence away, you will receive the reward the Lord promised to you!
But you need to remember, your season of stirring is not just about you, God is using The Season of your Stirring to bless someone else for the Kingdom assignment He has for them: Judges 13:25 “And the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him . . .”
