Scripture

A. In order to follow Jesus, we must abandon something else

Matthew 8:18–22 NKJV
18 And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. 19 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” 20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” 21 Then another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
The Disciples were willing to give up everything they had known and were comfortable with
The reason many are not successful is because they attach their obedience to Christ with allegiance to their old life.
To follow Christ is total commitment. There is no in between
See Luke 9:23
Luke 9:23 NKJV
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

B. There is no time to waste!

The disciples wasted no time in following Jesus:
Luke 14:23 NKJV
23 Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
There are an abundance of souls
Matthew 9:37–38 NKJV
37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

C. To follow Jesus you must be committed to transformation (Discipleship)

Matthew 4:19 NKJV
19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
I will make you: Submitting to the process of discipleship
The call to follow Jesus is a call to discipleship. Platform may come with it. But platform is not the primary goal.

Conclusion:

Will you answer the Kingdom Call?
