Joshua 23:14-16.

Central Idea: God is faithful, and he demands our faithfulness.

What do we learn about the character of God in these verses?

I. God is faithful. [14-15a]

He has fulfilled every promise ever made

He has never failed

II. God is just and holy. [15b-16]

He will not tolerate idolatry

He will punish those who break the covenant

Leviticus 11:44 “44 For I am the Lord your God, so you must consecrate yourselves and be holy because I am holy. Do not defile yourselves by any swarming creature that crawls on the ground.”

1 Peter 1:15–16 “15 But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; 16 for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.”

Response Questions:

What is required of me?

In response to God’s faithfulness, we are to be faithful to Him.

This begins with a relationship where we learn about Him, seek to mature in Him (reflecting Him more than the world), and serve Him.

How do I have a relationship with God?

Through Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World, the Messiah.
