1 Timothy 4:1-5

1 Timothy 4:1–5 “1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.”
Some will depart
Depart = Aphistemi
istemi = to stand
Devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and the teaching of demons
Devote to take care and pay special attention to.
Deceitful spirits
you are being lied to
teachings of demons
1 Thessalonians 2:3 “3 For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive,”
2 Thessalonians 2:11 “11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,”
These people continue to do the hurting and the lying and the sin … BECAUSE WATCH THIS
THEY’RE CONSCIENCE IS SEARED
THEY’RE TOTALLY INSENSITIVE
YOU COULD PREACH A MESSAGE DIRECTLY TO THEM ABOUT THEIR OWN SIN AND THEY STILL WOULDN’T SEE THAT IT IS ABOUT THEM
It is a loss of moral sensitivity
An inability to discern right from wrong
And a desensitization to conviction
These people want to hold you to a higher standard than they can be held to.
In this passage, they were maintaining old covenant - old testament law.
They were holding on to the stuff from the old house and not making room for the stuff in the new house
