Living Unveiled Before the Lord
2 Corinthians 3:16–18 “But the moment one turns to the Lord with an open heart, the veil is lifted and they see. Now, the “Lord” I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever he is Lord, there is freedom. We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
"The Unveiling of the Heart"
"The Unveiling of the Heart"
Beloved, there comes a sacred moment in every believer’s journey — a moment when the fog of confusion lifts, the chains of shame break, and the eyes of the heart are opened wide. It is the moment when the veil is torn away, and suddenly you see Jesus as He truly is — not through second-hand reports, not through religious performance, but face to face through the Spirit.
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 3:16–18 (TPT), “The moment one turns to the Lord with an open heart, the veil is lifted and they see. Now, the Lord I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever He is Lord, there is freedom.
This is not poetic theory — it’s a living reality. The same Spirit who hovered over the waters in Genesis now hovers over your life, ready to breathe light into your darkness. The same Spirit who overshadowed Mary and brought forth Jesus now overshadows you to birth Christ’s nature in you. And the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now works within you to transform you from the inside out.
Before Christ, there is a veil — a spiritual barrier that blocks true vision. It may be the veil of sin, the veil of wounds, the veil of pride, or even the veil of religious tradition. But when you turn to the Lord with an open, surrendered heart, that veil doesn’t just slip a little — it is completely removed, torn like the curtain in the temple the moment Jesus cried, “It is finished.”
Illustration:
Picture a bride walking down the aisle with a veil over her face. Everyone can see her outline, but the groom longs to see her clearly. When the veil is lifted, there is nothing between them — just eyes locked in love. That’s what Jesus desires for you — unveiled intimacy where nothing blocks His gaze from reaching your heart.
And here’s the beauty: once the veil is gone, you don’t just see Him — you begin to reflect Him. The glory that is in His face begins to radiate from your life. This isn’t about trying harder, it’s about beholding longer. The more you see Him, the more you become like Him. The more you surrender to the Holy Spirit’s Lordship, the more you step into freedom and transformation that only He can bring.
Today, I’m here to tell you — you were not created to live hidden behind a veil. You were made for face-to-face fellowship with the Living God. You were designed to go from glory to glory until the image of Christ is unmistakable in you. And it all begins the moment you say, “Holy Spirit, be Lord over every part of me.”
Point 1 – The Veil is Lifted When We Turn to the Lord
Point 1 – The Veil is Lifted When We Turn to the Lord
Scripture: “But the moment one turns to the Lord with an open heart, the veil is lifted and they see.” — 2 Corinthians 3:16 TPT
To turn to the Lord means more than just facing Him; it means surrendering to Him with a soft, teachable heart. Many try to approach God with a hardened heart, but the veil stays.
Supporting Scriptures:
Isaiah 25:7 – “He will destroy… the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations.”
Acts 26:18 – “To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light…”
Illustration:
Think of a person cleaning fog off a mirror. No matter how hard they wipe, the fog returns until they turn on the heat and let the air clear. Turning to the Lord is like turning on the heat — it removes the fog so you can see clearly.
Key Thought:
Surrender breaks spiritual blindness.
Point 2 – The Holy Spirit is Lord, and Where He Rules, Freedom Reigns
Point 2 – The Holy Spirit is Lord, and Where He Rules, Freedom Reigns
Scripture: “Now, the Lord I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever He is Lord, there is freedom.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17 TPT
Freedom is not just from sin but from fear, condemnation, addiction, shame, and self-dependence. Freedom comes only when the Holy Spirit is Lord — not just present, but in charge.
Supporting Scriptures:
Romans 8:2 – “The law of the Spirit of life… has made me free…”
Galatians 5:1 – “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free…”
Illustration:
A prisoner may have the keys to the cell but still stay inside if he doesn’t believe he’s truly free. Many Christians have been freed but have not let the Spirit lead them into the open air of liberty.
Key Thought:
The Holy Spirit’s Lordship turns spiritual prisoners into free sons and daughters.
Point 3 – We Can All Draw Close Without a Veil
Point 3 – We Can All Draw Close Without a Veil
Scripture: “We can all draw close to Him with the veil removed from our faces…” — 2 Corinthians 3:18a TPT
This is an invitation for everyone, not just pastors, prophets, or “spiritual elites.” Under the Old Covenant, only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies once a year; now you are invited daily.
Supporting Scriptures:
Hebrews 10:19–22 – “…let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith…”
James 4:8 – “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…”
Illustration:
When a child is secure in their parent’s love, they run boldly into their arms without hesitation. God wants you to run into His presence like that every day.
Key Thought:
There is no barrier between you and God — except the ones you keep.
Point 4 – We Reflect the Glory We See
Point 4 – We Reflect the Glory We See
Scripture: “…and with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18b TPT
What you behold, you become. A mirror doesn’t produce its own light — it reflects what it’s facing. If you face the world, you’ll reflect the world. If you face Jesus, you’ll reflect Jesus.
Supporting Scriptures:
Psalm 34:5 – “They looked to Him and were radiant…”
Matthew 5:14–16 – “You are the light of the world…”
Illustration:
Sunflowers turn toward the sun all day and in doing so, they flourish. The more you turn toward Jesus, the more His glory is reflected in your life.
Key Thought:
Reflection is the fruit of intimacy.
Point 5 – Transformation is From the Inside Out
Point 5 – Transformation is From the Inside Out
Scripture: “We are being transfigured into His very image…” — 2 Corinthians 3:18c TPT
The word “transfigured” here is the same word used for Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matthew 17:2). It’s not behavior modification — it’s Holy Spirit metamorphosis.
Supporting Scriptures:
Romans 12:2 – “…be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Philippians 1:6 – “…He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…”
Illustration:
A caterpillar doesn’t attend “butterfly training” — transformation happens in the cocoon. The Spirit’s work in you is your cocoon, shaping you into Christ’s likeness.
Key Thought:
Transformation is not achieved by effort but by exposure to His presence.
Point 6 – Glory is Progressive, Not Static
Point 6 – Glory is Progressive, Not Static
Scripture: “…as we move from one brighter level of glory to another…” — 2 Corinthians 3:18d TPT
God doesn’t want you to live off yesterday’s encounter. Each day in His presence is meant to take you to a new dimension of glory.
Supporting Scriptures:
Proverbs 4:18 – “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter…”
Psalm 84:7 – “They go from strength to strength…”
Illustration:
Think of a dimmer switch slowly being turned up until the room is filled with light. That’s your life in Christ — brighter and brighter as you keep beholding Him.
Key Thought:
The more you walk with Him, the more radiant you become.
Point 7 – This Glory Comes from the Spirit, Not Ourselves
Point 7 – This Glory Comes from the Spirit, Not Ourselves
Scripture: “…and this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18e TPT
You can’t produce this glory through good works, spiritual disciplines alone, or self-effort. It is the Spirit’s work — our job is to stay yielded.
Supporting Scriptures:
Zechariah 4:6 – “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit…”
John 15:5 – “…apart from Me you can do nothing.”
Illustration:
Just as a branch doesn’t strain to produce fruit but simply stays connected to the vine, so we bear His glory by abiding in Him.
Key Thought:
Glory is a byproduct of intimacy, not performance.
Conclusion – Living Unveiled
Conclusion – Living Unveiled
When the veil is gone, everything changes. You see clearly, you walk freely, you reflect brightly, and you are transformed from glory to glory by the Spirit. This is not just a Sunday experience — it’s the everyday life of the believer who lives unveiled before the Lord.
Closing Prayer 🙏🔥
Closing Prayer 🙏🔥
Holy Spirit, we turn to You right now with open hearts. Lift every veil that has kept us from seeing Jesus clearly. Be Lord over every part of our lives. Transform us from the inside out and take us from glory to glory until we reflect Christ fully. Let our lives shine so brightly that the world can’t help but see Your beauty in us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
