Psalm 91 1-5
Psalm 91 1-5
Beloved my hope today is to get all of us to understand that in times of fear, anxiety, or confusion, that you can find solace and strength by drawing near to God, who is our ultimate protector. I want to encourage you to actively seek God's presence and trust in His promises during difficult times.
In this week playlist Psalm 91 it eloquently emphasizes the safety and security found in God's presence, portraying Him as a refuge and fortress amidst life's uncertainties.
In the book of Psalms, David often expressed his feelings of fear and anxiety, but he also repeatedly penned verses about finding refuge in God. Picture David in a grove of trees, laughing with delight as he realizes that his true shelter is not just physical but emotional and spiritual—a safe place to hide his heart when times get tough.
Beloved who do you run to or where do you go when life has become stressful, how do you escape from the noise of everyday living, paying bills, sickness, division in the home wether it’s with the spouse or the children. Trying to escape from the feeling of being alone but life seem to trap you on all sides.
Brothers many of us have what we call our man caves this is where we have all our big boy toys and for a brief moment it can relieve some of the stresses. My sisters I remember my grand mother found solace in cooking and baking, but now some sisters have what they call their she sheds, this is a place of quietness and peace. Then it is those of us who dive deep into our career, working from sun up till sun down trying to ignore life. But I came to tell somebody all of those places only give the illusion of peace but I want to tell you about A PLACE CALLED DWELL .
Dwell generally mean’s to live in or stay in a place for a period of time. Now dwell in biblical context it can mean to abide in or direct your attention to something , like Jehovah’s presence or teaching.
Beloved as I look at this playlist, I read it a few different versions one says that he who dwell in the presence, another says in the shelter but the King James says in the secret place, which took me back to my childhood when we played a game called hide-n-seek. You would find a place that no-one could find. Yours my have been under the porch stairs, or behind that big bush across the street, I found a spot in a tree on the railroad tracks with no lights. If you were like me I would Invite my cousin to my secret hiding place and he did the same but we couldn’t stay there.
All of these where good hiding places, our Man Caves and She Sheds BUT WHERE DO YOU GO! When life get rough?
People of God The writer tells us that God has a secret place that he has invited all of us here but theres a problem, too many of us just wan’t to visit. We treat his place like it’s a Holiday Inn, or Hilton hotel. He tells us he that dwells will abide means that we want to stay, that this should be a permanent situation, We should want to stay in dwell. But many us when we think coast is clear, when the sickness is gone, when your money problems are gone, now that you have a boo that we have a tendency to leave the shelter. Don’t leave he says sta under his shadow, we must abide in his shadow which tells us that we need to stay in close proximity Source.
Because you and I abide becbecaus we stayed there are some benefits God put us in
PROTECTIVE CUSTODY
Protective custody is a measure taken to ensure the safety of individuals who are at risk of harm, either from others or themselves. It involves keeping someone in a secure environment, often under the supervision of law enforcement or IN our case the Holy Spirit. How many of us here today can say that God is your protector. Think about that one time that God step into your situation and became your force field.
The song writer says it like this all night, all day Angels are watching over me. We know him to be not just a protector but he’s a deliver. The scripture says he shall deliver for those who try to set traps for you
The whole point of a trap is to attract the victim into it. That's why good traps often have bait... when the victim wants something enough, they are much more likely to ignore their fears and hope for the best.
Be aware of Him or Her who always telling you how good you look and smell.
Becareful of the oneswho smil in yo face all the time trying to take you place you they are_____
keep your head up and watch out for Satan tempted Jesus with offers of power and worldly gain, trying to lure him away from his divine mission.
not only from traps but from illnesses( talk about Covid)
Lastly he shall cover us with his wings this is metaphor of A mother bird covering her young with her wings is a beautiful display of maternal care and protection in the animal kingdom. This instinctual behavior, known as brooding, helps keep the vulnerable young safe from various threats.
