Intro: Importance of Sabbath
Looking forward to rest and relaxation helps us to get through tough times
Looking forward to vacation
there's a lot to say it's in my heart I love this book
I love what Paul is teaching us
as we come to second Corinthians chapter five
where the Apostle Paul is talking to us about one of the things that gives him great joy
that encourages him in the midst of trial
and the fact of the matter is that in this world you'll have trouble
jesus said that so nobody has he perfect life
nobody has a trouble-free life
and the real issue for us is
if we're not going to have a trouble-free life
and we're not
then how do we deal with difficulty
and how do we handle it
how do we keep our emotions in check
how do we maintain a spirit of joy
because the joy of the Lord is our strength
and if we don't have joy in our heart
it weakens us
in our service of God
and in every other part of our life
so how are we going to do life from a standpoint of strength
regardless of the difficulties we face around us?
Paul answers that for us in this incredible book called 2 Corinthians
the title that we've given this series is Elastic Resiliance
which is essentially the capacity to "bounce back" to our original shape after being stressed.
as we come to 2 Corinthians chapter 5
we find Paul at a very difficult season of his life
he's got detractors
people attacking him on the outside
he's dealing with physical issues that are so bad he's pleading to God
we're going to see that in Chapter 12
three times he asks the lord Lord to take it away
2 Corinthians 12:7–8 NASB95
Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself! Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me.
despite going through all of this
and yet he says, our theme verse for this series:
2 Corinthians 4:8–9 NASB95
we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
We all ask the question: how do you do that Paul?
we saw in the last chapter
how he talks about not losing heart
2 Corinthians 4:16 NASB95
Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.
chapter 5, in some ways, is Him expanding on how to do that,
Before we get there, look at the very end of chapter4
2 Corinthians 4:16 NASB95
Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.
Keys to not lose heart

Spend time in the presence of God

Paul says he doesn't lose heart
as he spends time in the presence of God
if you want to have joy in your heart
be in the presence of God
as he's in the presence of God
it lifts his spirits
and then we find that he gains courage
as he focuses on eternity
2 Corinthians 4:17 NASB95
For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,
when our eyes are fixed on Jesus, nothing in this world can shake us
the Holy Spirit anoints us
fills us
baptizes us
and like oil in an engine, things just slide away
nothing seems to be able to hold purchase on our life
2 Corinthians 4:18 NASB95
while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
now I want to ask you a question
how do you do that
fixing our eyes on the unseen?
what's that look like
what does that mean when Paul says that's what we do
and that's how I keep from losing heart
what does that mean
how do you fix your eyes on what is unseen
by definition, it can’t be seen
and I want to suggest to you that as you come to chapter 5
and verses 1 through 10
Paul's going to tell us say exactly how to do that
in fact I would say that verses 1 through 10 of chapter 5
is really a kind of commentary on chapter 4 and verse 18
as Paul thinks about heaven
it encourages him in his heart
Christians through the generations have always understood that fact
John Bunyan wrote a famous allegory called pilgrims progress
it's a story of a pilgrim who is headed to the celestial City
and on his journey as he's going along he meets another believer who asks:
when do you find yourself in your most wholesome vigorous spiritual state
pilgrim responds with a threefold answer
in the last part of his answer, he says
when I think of the place to which I'm going
what is it that causes us to have a vigorous Christianity
A faith that can withstand any situation?
what is it that keeps us on our toes
what is it that makes us strong in the Lord
what is it that gives us joy in the journey
it's when we think about the place to which we go
when you and I think about eternity
when you and I think about heaven
when we think about where we're headed
and what it's going to be like
it brings joy to our heart
Father’s final sermon
there is an eternal rest
this is all temporary and it's going to fade
and you know that expression
preaching to the choir
I know I'm doing that because you already believe this
but everything that is painful
and everything that is sinful
and everything that is broken
is going to pass away
because it's not what God has in store for me
There is a resting place for me where there's no more physical pain
if I get to sleep in heaven, when I wake up in the morning I'm
Going to wake up dancing
I'm Going to do an Irish jig
because it is impossible for me to do that right now
I'm going to sing in the choir
because that's pretty iffy right now too
but there will be no pain for me
one day I won't be diabetic
if anybody looks at me and says I'm overweight
it's because I'm just going to be able to float better than the rest of you
that's right no diabetes
no muscle aches
I might not even need glasses anymore
who knows
there's the physical side
but there's the emotional side
And this is not to pick on us
cuz everybody in the room knows what emotional pain feels like
but no more emotional pain
no more sorrow
no more grief
no more hurting
no more feeling alone
no more feeling insecure
no more feeling scared
no more feeling disappointed
no more feeling ignored
no more having your hopes Dash to Pieces
no more of that
I'm not home yet
this isn't where I belong
and I know all that kind of stuff happens here
but this is not my home
this is not where I belong
there will be no more pain
and no more sorrow
you can go ahead and and start let your mind drift
is there's such a place as this
could it be that I could live in a place where there's no more pain
And there's no more heartache huh
is there that kind of a place
yeah there is
I want to talk to you about heaven for the next few weeks
primarily because that's what Paul mentions in the first 10 verses of 2nd Corinthians chapter 5
the first thing we're gonna think about is what will WE be like
our body
what's our body gonna be like in heaven
Paul talks about that the second thing we're going to talk about is what will heaven be like
so we're gonna talk about the body
we're gonna talk about the place that we're going to be
and then the last thing that Paul talks about in verses 9 and 10
the rewards were going to receive and
all of that together encourages Paul's heart
2 Corinthians 5:1–5 NASB95
For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven, inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked. For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life. Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge.
now there's three things I want you to notice
as we think about what would we be like in heaven
Paul mentions them and so the first is this
we know

1 We get a new body

we know that in heaven you and I get a new body
let's look at it in verse 1
Paul says this
you and I know that when we get to heaven
we get a new body
notice he says
2 Corinthians 5:1 NASB95
For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
for we know that if the tent that is earthly home
there's a couple things I want you to notice there
first of all
IF the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed
Ben Franklin say there's two certainties in life
death and taxes
so why is Paul saying if
because Paul is recognizing the possibility of rapture
Paul is saying I may not die
he would love for the Lord to come at any moment
and if you're wondering about the rapture
let me be clear
that there's coming a day when Jesus is going to come
and gather up all the Christians
and take us to heaven
it's called the rapture of the church
if that happens in that moment Paul says this
in that moment at the last Trump
in a twinkling of an eye
we'll all be changed
everybody who's a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ
instantly gets a resurrected body
so Paul is saying "IF” simply leaving room for the rapture
and saying we may be raptured
but if not, we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed
he calls our body a tent why because it's temporary one
of the things that we have to understand is this
life's not all there is
we have a tendency to think that the physical world is the thing that's real
and is the thing that lasts
and the Bible totally inverts that
and a correct understanding is to understand this physical world
and everything in it's going to pass away
We tend to think of this life as the land of the living,
and that when we die, we go to the land of the dead
However, the opposite is true:
This is the land of the dying, and we move on to the land of the living
this body is not going to last so Paul refers to it as a tent
no matter how nice the tent you have
it's not as nice as a nice home
no matter how nice a tent you have
have the nicest tent that you want to have
but a tent is temporary
it's not permanent
and Paul says this
Paul says someday this tent is going to be destroyed
maybe a better word in the original greek is be folded up
someday your tent, your body, is going to be folded up
like a tent when you're going camping
I have a tent here
you get up in the morning and
you take the tent down
you fold it up
you pack it away
and Paul says someday that's what's going to happen with our body
our body that we've lived in
that we've dwelled in that is temporary
is going to be folded up packed away
laid in the ground
it's a tent
it's temporary
it was never designed to be permanent
notice he says we have a building from God (v1)
if the tent is folded up in that moment
we have a building from God
a house not made with hands
what does that mean not made with hands
well you see that phrase used in other parts of the Bible
in Hebrews 9: 11 for example
it says
Hebrews 9:11 NASB95
But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation;
in other words
the building that God is giving us is eternal
it's supernatural
it's spiritual
it's not made
Paul's point is that it is not like the things of this earth
it's not made of the things of this earth
it's different than the things of this earth
everything in this earth
your body is made of the elements of this earth
it's made of of components that are part of this earth
that's why when it decays it melts back into the earth
and Paul says our new body is not natural
it's supernatural
it's eternal
it's not of this earth
it's totally different
so Paul says that we're gonna get a new a new building
a new place to live in
for our spirit to live in
look at verse 2
2 Corinthians 5:2 NASB95
For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven,
for in this tent we groan
let me just mention to you as well on the tent
the idea of the temporary nature of the tent is simply that it doesn't last
Look at John’s description of Jesus as the Word
John 1:14 NASB95
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
that word, dwelt, there literally is tented (dwelt)
(jk) not like tinted like you got a you got a cool car and you got your windows tinted
it's tented as in you're camping out
and you are tented
you're sleeping in that tent
and the idea is that when Jesus came
he tented among us
it wasn't a permanent living among us
and he lived in a tent
he lived in a temporary body
just like our body is a temporary body
when you are sleeping in a tent
you groan
but that's not really what it's talking about there
it's talking about how in this body
there's a lot of hardship
in this body there's lot of groaning
you know especially the older you get
you have to be careful
you groan a lot more
you got aches you groan
you got pains you groan
I mean think about it
it's kind of how life works for for most people
as you make your way through life
there are difficulties
there's the flu, you get feverish, you groan
you get the stomach flu you're something you might groan and moan
you know I mean life can be filled with lots of groaning
that's part of life
in fact creation itself groans in Romans chapter 8 Paul says this
Romans 8:22–24 NASB95
For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?
in other words creation, cursed by sin,
is unable to fulfill its original purpose
its original design
it groans
he's saying we too groan
he said we're eagerly awaiting the redemption of our bodies
this is the same idea that you find in second Corinthians
that there is this groaning
as creation looks forward to that time when finally it's free from the curse of sin
as you and I look forward to that time when our body is redeemed
when we no longer are living in a temporary tent
but we're living in a building that God has formed
that is eternal
in nature that's more wonderful and glorious than we can imagine
so what Paul's talking about here as he thinks about heaven
and he thinks about what his body's going to be like
I mean it makes him very very happy
one of the things that works against us in a modern society is we've got it really good
by and large most people are gonna not walk home
you're going to get in a car
and when you get in the car
if it's cold outside but there's gonna be a heater
if it’s hot there’s air conditioners
when you get ill, you're going to go to a doctor
who's going to be able to deaden the pain
who's going to be able to give you medication to mitigate the problems
you're going to go to a dentist with a toothache
and instead of just sitting there suffering
till your tooth rots and falls out of your mouth
you're gonna have them help you
and work on you
and if they're really good you don't groan
I mean because we've learned through technology
we've been able to somewhat mitigate a lot of the issues
that for millennia, people have struggled with
Because of the comforts we have,
it’s much harder for us to to really get as excited about eternity
because honestly for most people we are comfortable most of the time
but that's not been true for people who have lived for thousands of years
for most people, really up until the last 100 hundred and fifty years,
life was very very difficult
and most of us have a a life that royalty of previous generations would have loved to have had
so we're in this body today
and we're in this this world of technologically
we've kind of tamed some of the effects of the elements
and so here we are
we're walking through all of this
and it's hard for us to really relate to the idea that Paul has
of saying I can't wait till I get a new body
because for most of us
were able to medicate
and and insulate our body from the harsh effects
but for Paul it's not that way
and Paul is looking at this and he's saying
I'm longing for that heavenly dwelling
and when he's talking about the heavenly dwelling
he's not talking just about heaven
as in a room he has in the father's house
though that will be a part of it he's talking about
Paul says I can't wait til I get a new body
and every now and then
what happens is we encounter some kind of physical illness
and some of you are in it today
or you know somebody that you love that is dealing with it today
and this verse becomes very very real for you
because you understand how awesome it's going to be
when you’re set free from the bondage of this body
Paul says I long for it, I looked for it, it's a hope he has
moving on
2 Corinthians 5:3–4 NASB95
inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked. For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.
you say what in the world is that saying
in Greek culture there was a philosophy known as dualism
that really taught that the Spirit was good
and the flesh was bad
and so since nothing you did the flesh really mattered
but the best you could ever hope for was someday to be freed from this body
and to just have your spirit
and you would never want another body
because the Greek philosophers saw the body as limiting
Paul says that isn't true for the believer
the body isn't limiting
in fact the body is glorious
in the eternal State, this body's limiting, but the new body is going to be awesome
and Paul says to be without the body
would to be would be to be naked for eternity
to be unable to fulfill the purpose of God
or to be clothed in the glory of God
to the degree that he would desire us to be clothed in his body
or to be clothed in eternity
that we might do works
and enjoy the splendor and the glory
and the awesomeness of heaven
and we'll do that better in a resurrected body
“what is mortal will be swallowed up.”
disolving swim trunks
now goes on and says this
2 Corinthians 5:5 NASB95
Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge.
and here's what he's saying
the spirit is like a deposit
it's like a down-payment
the Spirit of God lives in our heart at Salvation
and so we sense the Spirit
we we can feel the the spirits presence
we can see the difference the Spirit makes in our life as he strengthens us
as he empowers us
all those things and all of that is just simply a little bit of a foretaste of how glorious it's going to be in heaven
when God gives us a new body
new body

2 We Get A Better Body

now besides the fact that we get a new body the next thing I want you to notice
number two: is what's that body going to be like
and on this point it's important for us to remember
we know we get a different body
that the body God is going to give us is different in a very big way
look back at it in verse 1
2 Corinthians 5:1 NASB95
For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
it's a house not made with hands
its eternal
in the heavens
so it's an eternal body
it is is not just a spirit
it is a real body
it is like a house in the same way that a house is more permanent than a tent
do you follow?
in other words this body's never gonna wear out
this body's never going to be folded up
that body's never gonna tire
the resurrected body is never going to diminish
it's never gonna wear out
it's not gonna get holes in
it it's not gonna it's not going to have problems
it's a permanent body
and in verse two he says this
2 Corinthians 5:2 NASB95
For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven,
we long to put on our heavenly dwelling
it's a body that equips us to live eternally in heaven
it's uniquely suited for eternity with God in heaven
so the question is what's that body like?
go with me to 1 Corinthians 15
because there Paul gives us some insight into the difference
how to process the difference of the resurrected body
and this is important for you and I to understand
because this is a major point of hope
it's a major point of joy
and it's important for us to be able to understand what happens
because it'll make a difference when you face death
either your own or somebody else's
here's what he says
some skeptic is sure to ask
show me how resurrection works
1 Corinthians 15:35 NASB95
But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?”
I've had people who come to me
and said well you know I just don't understand
if somebody gets and a lot of times the question is centered around cremation and somebody will say
you know if somebody gets cremated and and then their ashes are scattered
then how is God going to bring all of that together
how's all of that going to work
how can God resurrect
and that's not a sceptical question
that's an inquisitive question
and to that I would I would simply say this
the issue of God rearranging or reuniting the molecular components of your body is not a problem for him
he created you in the first place
he can recreate you
and in fact every three years there's a whole new you
every three years your body essentially replaces its cells
so if God can recycle you in this life
you can believe he can cycle you in the next right
add to that the fact that they tell us that 75% of the dust in our house houses is us
I mean you just vacuum yourself up every every week
so it's not a problem for God
now back to verse 35
1 Corinthians 15:35 NASB95
But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?”
the skeptic is sure - show me how resurrection works?
give me a diagram
draw me a picture
what does this resurrection body look like
Paul knows that's a sceptical question
and he's going to answer them in verse 36
he's going to say
1 Corinthians 15:36 NASB95
You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies;
the idea is foolish in the sense of unbelieving The Fool has said in his heart Psalm 14 there is no God
Psalm 14:1 NASB95
The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”
that's an unbelieving response to say
I don't know how God could ever resurrect
and I don't believe in the resurrection
God says that's a a morally foolish thing to say
but Paul's gonna answer the question about the resurrection
and he's going to tell us about the difference between our bodies
if you look at this question closely
you realize how absurd it is
there are no diagrams for this kind of thing
we do have a parallel experience
how many gardeners do we have
seeds
god bless all of you gardeners
you plant a dead seed
soon there is a flourishing plan
t there's no visual likeness between the seed and the plant
now think about that
you hold a seed in your hand
and the seed doesn't look anything like the plant
that's gonna grow out of the ground
that's his point
you could never guess what a tomato would look like by looking at a tomato seed
I mean did you get the analogy there
that that if you had never seen a tomato
if you didn't know anything about tomatoes
and somebody showed you a seed
somebody said you know what
there's going to come from this seed something that has the essence of this seed
but as a whole,
a lot more wonderful than this seed
something that is going to be bright red
that's gonna be juicy
that's gonna be wonderful
to eat that's gonna taste so awesome
and you were looking at the seed
you would say
Huh?
Paul’s point point is simply this
that the body the you and I have
it's like that seed
and the glory
and the splendor
and the awesomeness of our resurrected body
is so much greater
so much more wonderful
so much more unimaginable
than then you can imagine
by looking at our body
it's like the seed
and it's like the tomato
the difference we can't begin to imagine
what God has prepared for you
you can't begin to imagine
the body he's going to give you
the splendor of that body
the power of that body
the joy of being in that body in his presence
I'm telling you in your wildest imagination
you can't begin to imagine it
Amen?
that's what we plant in the soil
and what grows out of it don't look anything like the dead body we bury in the ground
and the resurrection body that comes from it will be dramatically different
not anything alike at all
I mean similar but not alike
similar but very very different
this is what he's saying
he's saying we know this body's going to be different
it's going to be wonderful
here are some of the differences
first of all it's going to be immortal
instead of mortal
1 Corinthians 15:42 NASB95
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body;
and verse 42 the image of planting a dead seed
and raising a live plant is a mere sketch at best
but perhaps it will help in approaching the mystery of the resurrection body
but only if you keep in mind that when we’re raised
were raised for good
alive forever
in other words one of the big differences is this body is going down
what do they say after 25 it's all downhill from there right?
I mean you can paint it
you can tone it
you can tan it
you can diet it
you can massage it
you could do everything you want
but it's going down
you can delay some of that
but you can't stop it
we're all gonna die
you know it
that's the truth
we're all in the process of death
but the new body
no way
never not gonna happen
life life life life life life more life
wonderful life
better life
immortal life
never gonna die
never gonna be sick
never gonna be weak
never gonna be tired
never going to be never be diminished
I mean it's a whole different body
1 Corinthians 15:42–44 NASB95
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
listen you can take the most beautiful person in the world
but that beauty is gone at death
there's nothing beautiful about looking at a corpse
when you see the pictures of people who are killed
or you look at the history books for example
and you look at that and you see that
and it's ghastly and it's grisly and there's nothing beautiful about it
it's got an ugliness to it because of what death has done to the human body
if the Lord tarries you're going to die
your body's going to come to a place of weakness
and it will expire
the new body
the glorified body
it is going to have a power that is more powerful than you and I can imagine
Oh it'll never be weak
it'll never be worn out
it'll never wake up tired
it'll never wear out
it'll never say
oh I'd love to but I just don't feel like I can
it will have energy and life and vitality and glory and immortality
well that leads me to a third thing I want you to notice
we know we get a new body, a better body,
we know
that body will be different

3 We get a different body

We’re trying to answer the question
what will that new body be like?
well we've used terms like glorious and supernatural
and we've used terms like powerful
so what's the new body gonna be like
we know this 1 John 3:2
1 John 3:2 NASB95
Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
what we know and I want you to notice this
we know that when Christ is openly revealed
when you and I see him on the clouds of glory
when we behold his face his face
we’ll see him and in seeing him be like him
instantly transformed in that moment
in the twinkling of an eye
at the last trumpet
we'll all be changed
John says and in that moment we're gonna know Jesus
and we're gonna be like Jesus
and we're gonna have a body like Jesus
he was raised from the dead
had a resurrected body
so if we want to know what our body is gonna be like
all we have to do is look at his body
first of all let me just give you a list of things we know about his body
first of all the ressurrected body is not an angel
Jesus was not an angel
angels are only servants spirits
sent to care for people who will inherit salvation
I remember believing as a child dies they become an angel
I understand the sentimentality behind it
but it's not true
and you wouldn't want it to be true
because the psalmist says we're made a little lower than the Angels
but when we go to heaven
we will rule over the angels
Psalm 8:4–5 NASB95
What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty!
today our body doesn't have the capacity that angelic beings have
but when we get to heaven
our body will be like Christ
we will rule and reign with him
our body will be more spectacular than that of the Angels
you don't want yourself or a friend or a family member to be an angel
you want them to have a resurrected body
because the resurrected bodies best
second we know this we know that the resurrected body is not a spirit
it's not like they're a ghost
it's not like they move along and float through some kind of bodyless experience for eternity
we see Jesus when he appeared in the room
the whole group was startled
and frightened thinking they were seeing a ghost
they thought they saw a ghost but what Jesus does is
he dispels that and says
listen I'm not a ghost
I'm a real person in a real body
full of doing bodily things
the resurrected body is exactly that
it's a body
when you and I get to heaven we're not just spirits
just kind of hanging out for all eternity
we have a body that can do things in the body
and the body is important
and one of the reasons why we treat the body with respect
is because it is the temple in which God lives
and it is made in His image
and and it will be resurrected
so we treat it with respect for that
because God has a purpose for our body
Paul says that's what the body's gonna be like
and he says as I think about the body I'm getting
it fills my heart with joy
because the body I have is wearing out
and the one I'm getting won't ever wear out
won't be sick
won't hurt
won't get tired
won't get hungry
won't get sore
cuz in the end
let my picture be hanging with the other greats in the Hall of faith
that said they believed God no matter what
no matter what
we no longer find beauty in the world
to die is gain
and we live in a broken world
but as long as you belong to God
you better find something of the beauty of the Lord in the world you live in
Or I don't know how you're going to get through today
and make it through tomorrow
if you don't find hope
if you don't find joy and
if you can't find love
if you can't find strength in the fact that God is present in this world
that there is a gate called Beautiful for a reason
because it tells you that God does beautiful things
it tells you that he can always make available to you
his very presence
that you can come to him
and it tells you that there's a place of honor
there's a place of Glory where his strength will always be
watching over you
and be manifested in your life
but when life is hard
you got to get a hold of that which is precious
you got to get a hold of that which is beautiful
you got to get a hold of that which gives you Hope
Heaven is coming and that ought to give you hope
But between now and Heaven
find what is beautiful
find the beauty of the Lord in your midst
don't allow your heart to become insensitive
don't allow pain and disappointment and hurt
And frustration and misdirections
And relationships that are on Haywire
disappointments that'll tear you apart from God
because God loves you
and God welcomes you into his presence
and no matter what
the welcome that is always there
always there just a Heartbeat Away
just a whisper away at the mention of his name
come to me
come to me
come to me if you're thirsty
come to me I desire you to come into my presence
and I won't let my heart grow insensitive to the fact that God is still in control
and God is still good
and God Is Still Loving
and I will always belong to him
and he will always belong to me
there is an eternal rest
this is all temporary and it's going to fade
and you know that expression
preaching to the choir
I know I'm doing that because you already believe this
but everything that is painful
and everything that is sinful
and everything that is broken
is going to pass away
because it's not what God has in store for me
There is a resting place for me where there's no more physical pain
I'm not home yet
this isn't where I belong
and I know all that kind of stuff happens here
but this is not my home
this is not where I belong
there will be no more pain
and no more sorrow
there's the physical side
but there's the emotional side
And this is not to pick on us
cuz everybody in the room knows what emotional pain feels like
but no more emotional pain
no more sorrow
no more grief
no more hurting
no more feeling alone
no more feeling insecure
no more feeling scared
no more feeling disappointed
no more feeling ignored
no more having your hopes Dash to Pieces
no more of that
We ask...
is there's such a place as this
could it be that I could live in a place where there's no more pain
And there's no more heartache huh
is there that kind of a place
yeah there is
Let’s pray
Father in Heaven
I thank you
these people I love and care about
I mostly thank you that you never leave us or forsake us
and you're here
and we love you
and we worship you
in the Beauty and the Splendor of your Holiness
we worship you
one thing I ask
one thing I desire
to behold the beauty of the Lord
to inquire in his Temple
give me an appreciation
give me eyes to see beauty around me I pray
in Jesus name
amen
