vs 15 of John 7,
Though not word for word we do see the same thing in Matthew 13:54b and Mark 6:2b
We also see Matthew and Luke is word for word in Matt 11:27 and Luke 10:22.

Only John tells the story of a man born blind who was healed. The story ends with Jesus saying to the Pharisees, “If you were blind, you wouldn’t be guilty…But you remai guilty because you claim you can see.
Chapter 12:37-40 deals with eyes that cannot see and hearts that cannot understand.
We also see in the synoptics that people will see and learn nothing, hear and understand nothing…these passages in the synoptics all follow the parable of the “Farmer scattering seed.”

Jesus’ Ministry in Judea
Jesus’ Ministry in Judea
251. Decision to go to Jerusalem
Already discussed this in previous section.
252. On Divorce and Celibacy
The synoptics all record a discussion about divorce.
Only Matthew records something interesting. Jesus’ comments on not marrying.
Matthew 19:10–12 “10 Jesus’ disciples then said to him, “If this is the case, it is better not to marry!” 11 “Not everyone can accept this statement,” Jesus said. “Only those whom God helps. 12 Some are born as eunuchs, some have been made eunuchs by others, and some choose not to marry for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Let anyone accept this who can.””
253. Jesus Blesses the Children
The synoptics all say pretty much the same thing.
Parents bring their children to Jesus
The Disciples scolded the Parents
Jesus tells the disciples to let the children come to him.
Jesus says you have to receive the Kingdom of God like a child.
Matthew and Mark add that he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them
John’s gospel just talks about being born again, not being like a child.
254. The Rich Young Man.
All three of the synoptic gospels tell the same story will very little variations.
255. On Riches and Rewards of Discipleship
Again all the synoptics tell the same story with how hard it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
they all talk about
camel in the eye of a needle
disciples ask “who then can be saved?”
impossible for people - everything is possible with God
those who give up will receive rewards in heaven 100x’s in Matthew and Mark and many times in Luke.
Matthew and Mark add greatest now will be least then and least now will be greatest then
Matthew also adds those who have been his followers will sit on 12 thrones as he sits on his throne.
