When facing brokenness, our first step should be prayer that’s rooted in God’s promises.

Pray with Dependence on God’s Presence

Nehemiah 1:11 ESV
11 O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants who delight to fear your name, and give success to your servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” Now I was cupbearer to the king.

“Lord, please listen to me...”

Humble trust in God

Pray with Delight for God’s Name

Nehemiah 1:11 NLT
11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me.” In those days I was the king’s cup-bearer.

Lift God’s name high

Delight starts in the heart and flow to the head

Pray with Determination for God’s Provision

Nehemiah 1:11 MSG
11 O Master, listen to me, listen to your servant’s prayer—and yes, to all your servants who delight in honoring you—and make me successful today so that I get what I want from the king.” I was cupbearer to the king.

“Make me successful today...”

Pray Specific Prayers!

Philippians 4:6 CSB
6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Mark 10:51 CSB
51 Then Jesus answered him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Rabboni,” the blind man said to him, “I want to see.”

The closer we walk with God, the clearer and bolder our prayers become

John 15:7 CSB
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.

Remain = “be at Home...”

When God’s Word is at home in us, it results in Closeness, Clarity and Confidence.

The more specific the prayer, the more visible the answer
