We mean well. Our motives are good.

If only we were judged by our motives. How would life change if we judged people on their intentions and motives?

Job’s friends did not speak “right”.

This is not just about the words they used but the flawed thinking they had of God.

We, too, can be like Job’s friends.

We must be careful that we do not try to simplify God to much or speak too much for him.
Be careful when we and others say “God has said…”

Job prays for those who hurt him.

This is extremely hard.

Obedience to God is better than anything.

Job shows that doing the right thing is always the right thing. Not because it is easy. Not because we want to. But because of who God is.

God’s gifts are gifts of grace.

Job did not “get” things because he repented. No Job got things because God said I want to give you joy!

Future “blessings” do not erase the past.

No where do I believe the book is trying to state Job’s new children replace the past. We may think that but we would be wrong.

We must let God write a new chapter.

The end of Job is not about Job. It is about God and in His wisdom deciding to do what only He can do—write a new chapter for Job.
