Adoption

At the moment of adoption a few things happened

old debts or legal obligations were paid

a new name was given

the father became liable for the actions

the son had an obligation to please the father

What does it mean to be led by the Spirit? v14

More than helping make decisions

We triumph over sin through the Spirit because we are children of God

We are led to love what the Spirit loves and hate what the Spirit hates

Romans 8:19-22

Creation is subjected to the fall as well

Do you think that creation in its current iteration is as good as it gets?

Diesese, Natural Disasters, Predators

Nature is literally trying to kill us

Romans 8:23–25

The best is yet to come

Not only will this world be fully redeemed but you will be fully redeemed too.

We only have the first fruits of the Spirit now

Right now for believers the Spirit is making us alive internally v10

He is giving us gradual internal freedom from the effects of sin v13

He is making us look more like Christ v29

He is making us the sons of God v14

Yet, these are the first fruits of the Spirit, just a taste of what’s to come.

Our best days are ahead of us

Romans 8:18 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
