The Need of New Birth
The Need of New Birth
Galatians 3:10 “For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.””
Water and Spirit
Water and Spirit
Mention the thief, Cornelius and his household (Acts 10), and Simon the magician (Acts 8).
Ezekiel 36:25–27 “I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.”
Titus 3:5 “he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,”
1 Peter 1:23 “since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;” (see James 1:18)
Ephesians 5:25–26 “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,”
Faith comes through hearing the word (Romans 10:17), the word makes us clean (John 15:3), and the word sanctifies us (John 17:17).
Look to the crucified and risen Christ as your only hope to be saved, and He will make you a new person. The old will pass away and the new will come!
John 1:12–13 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”
