The Passover Meal

Peter and John has prepared the Passover for Jesus and the 12
it is now sundown ant they arrive at the upper room to eat the meal
V 14
Judas is with them but he did not know the location until he got there
V 15
by the end of the day tomorrow Jesus would be dead
the Father would have put onto Jesus the filthy garments of sin.
and the wrath of God would have been poured out onto Jesus. as Jesus takes our punishment for the sin that we have done
so Jesus wants this intimate time with his friends
V 15 says he will suffer
V 16
I will be with you in the Kingdom
this is something that they should have picked up on the next day seeing Jesus on the cross
V 18
Jesus again says Jesus will be in the Kingdom
we have looked at the significance of the Passover
this portion of scripture a few months ago
so, we are going down a rabbit trail on V 16
but first we have to start at the beginning on

The first Leg of The Trail

to make a bride
Turn to Genesis 2 16-25
God took from Adam a rib to make him his bride
from his own body God made a bride
the same way that The Father Gave Jesus His bride
Jesus had to die, and through his death the bride is made
through our repentance and faith we become the bride of Christ
Jesus goes to the Fathers and prepares us a place to live
then He will return to receive his bride and take her home to be with Him forever
but i’m getting ahead of myself
the bride must be prepared to meet her Groom
Revelation 19:7 LSB
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.”
how has the bride made herself ready?
Revelation 19:8 LSB
And it was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
these righteous acts Is it our own righteousness?
we learned at the baptism that when we are saved we are given a new robe of righteousness
lets look at what that looks like in
Zechariah 3:1–5 LSB
Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of Yahweh, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. And Yahweh said to Satan, “Yahweh rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, Yahweh who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand delivered from the fire?” Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and standing before the angel. And he answered and spoke to those who were standing before him, saying, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” Again he said to him, “See, I have made your iniquity pass away from you and will clothe you with festal robes.” Then I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments, while the angel of Yahweh was standing by.
God is the one doing the clothing of the bride
we are given the righteousness of Christ
we are made clean by the blood of Jesus
the marriage will take place in Heaven
Ephesians 5:23–27 LSB
For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she would be holy and blameless.
Adam gave a rib for his bride
Jesus gave Himself for His bride
we will be clothed in white garments clean and spotless
Revelation 3:5 LSB
‘He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments, and I will never erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
So, at the rapture the bride is taken up to heaven we have been given the spotless clean white linen to wear
where the marriage will take place
and from Heaven we will return as the blushing bride back to earth where our groom will destroy the armies of the world an bring peace
this is quite a rabbit trail where are we going on this trail
we started with V 15 -16
Luke 22:15–16 LSB
And He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

this is the destination this great feast given to us by Jesus
this feast that will be the fulfilling of the Passover
Christ our Passover lamb
Jesus who rose again for our redemption
this feast not for remembering and looking forward
but a feast to celebrate the fulfillment
the bride will be with her Groom and there will be a great marriage in heaven
then Jesus will show off His bride to the world
turn to Revelation 19:11
at this time the Jews that are still alive will mourn because they will realize that this is the rejected messiah
they will at this time turn to Him and be saved
the armies of the world will tremble
the saved through the tribulation will rejoice
the Old testament saints will be raptured
V 9
who are the invited?
at a wedding today who is the invited guests?
it certainly is not the bride
these guests are the old testament saints
those who were saved in the tribulation
those Israelites who were saved in the tribulation
everyone who has benefited from the Passover Lamb of God
