SURRENDERING TO CHRIST’S LORDSHIP

SHINING

SEEKING

SERVING

SHARING

1 Peter 3:15 NKJV
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
WE ARE COMMANDED TO HAVE OUR HEART SET ASIDE FOR HIS SERVICE AND ALWAYS BE Prepared to Give an Answer FOR THE HOPE YOU HAVE IN CHRIST

CONNECT – Build a Bridge

Acts 17:22–23 NKJV
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; 23 for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:

John 4:7–10 NKJV
7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” 8 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. 9 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

Effective witnessing starts with finding common ground—a conversation, a question, or a shared experience. Paul quoted poets. Jesus asked for a drink of water.
Discussion Questions
What are natural conversation starters you can use in everyday life?
Why is it important to meet people where they are?
Application: Write down 3 people you can start a gospel-oriented conversation with this week.

CONVICT – Speak Truth in Love

Romans 3:23 NKJV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Acts 2:36–37 NKJV
36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” 37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
John 4:17–18 NKJV
17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”
Summary: All gospel presentations in Scripture address the reality of sin. Not to condemn, but to help people recognize their need for Christ. Peter’s bold message at Pentecost led people to ask, “What shall we do?”
Discussion Questions
Why must we talk about sin when sharing the gospel?
How can we share the truth about sin with compassion?
Application: Pray for boldness to lovingly speak truth when sharing the gospel.

COMMUNICATE – Proclaim Christ Clearly

1 Corinthians 15:3–4 NKJV
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
Acts 13:26–39 NKJV
26 “Men and brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to you the word of this salvation has been sent. 27 For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath, have fulfilled them in condemning Him. 28 And though they found no cause for death in Him, they asked Pilate that He should be put to death. 29 Now when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb. 30 But God raised Him from the dead. 31 He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people. 32 And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise which was made to the fathers. 33 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.’ 34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’ 35 Therefore He also says in another Psalm: ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’ 36 “For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption; 37 but He whom God raised up saw no corruption. 38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; 39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Acts 8:35 NKJV
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.
Summary: The heart of the gospel is Jesus’ life, death, burial, and resurrection. Philip “preached Jesus” from Isaiah 53. Paul emphasized that salvation is found in Christ alone.
Discussion Questions:
What are the essential facts about Jesus we must share?
How would you explain the gospel in one minute?
Application: Practice a 60-second gospel summary using these four points:
God made us
We sinned
Jesus died and rose again
We must believe and turn to Him

CALL – Invite a Response

Acts 2:38 NKJV
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 17:30–31 NKJV
30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”
Romans 10:9–10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Summary: Biblical witnesses didn’t just inform people—they invited them to respond. Peter called for repentance and baptism. Paul said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Discussion Questions:
Why is it important to ask people to make a decision?
What’s a gentle but clear way to invite someone to follow Christ?
Application: Prepare a simple question to use like:
“Would you like to know how to have a relationship with Jesus?”

CONTINUE – Encourage Spiritual Growth

Matthew 28:19–20 NKJV
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Acts 2:42 NKJV
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Summary: Witnessing doesn’t stop with conversion. Jesus calls us to make disciples. The early church followed up with teaching, fellowship, and growth.
Discussion Questions:
How can you personally follow up with someone after they accept Christ?
What are some ways the church can better support new believers?
Application: Commit to walk with one person—invite them to church, study Scripture, and encourage them in their faith.
You are commanded to give an answer to the question "Why Jesus?"

What am I saved from?

1. You have been saved from the penalty of God: Justification
2. You are being saved from the power of sin: Sanctification
3. You will be saved from the presence of sin: Glorification

Elements in Evangelizing

Step 1. God's Perfect World

God created a perfect world. His design was for us to be in relationship with Him. This relationship with God provided security, significance, and fulfillment. Because He is our creator, this relationship is the source of life. God and man walked together in this perfect world without sickness, brokenness, or death.

Step 2. A Broken Relationship

God did not make us robots to automatically love and obey Him. He gave us a will and freedom to choose. We chose to be our own authority. We still make this choice today when we disobey Him and go our own way.
Proverbs 12:15 NKJV
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.

How Can I be saved?

Step 3. God's Remedy: Jesus Christ

On our own, there's no way we can attain the perfection and holiness required to bridge the gap between God and us. Through the ages, individuals have tired many ways without success. Good works, religion, money, morality, or philosophy will not bridge the gap. Jesus is the only answer to this problem.

Step 4. Our Response

Is there any reason why you shouldn't cross over to God's side and be certain of eternal life?
2 Corinthians 5:20 NKJV
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
Have you sinned against God and others? A person is made right with God by trusting in Jesus.
1 John 1:9 NKJV
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Do you confess that Jesus is God's Son and He is your Lord and Savior?
Romans 10:9 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Are you willing to turn away from your sin and turn to God for direction?
Acts 20:20–21 NKJV
20 how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, 21 testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Will you surrender to Jesus way?
Luke 9:23 NKJV
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
Let go of your plans
Let go of your ideas
Let go of your life
Luke 9:24 KJV 1900
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
