God has no record of the failures of His own…that is justification
Paul now shows us how Abraham found this be true.
Abraham made this discovery, says Paul…V. 1…you ask what, how…?
1. Was it wealth?...country not able to contain both Lot and Abraham…(expound)
2. Was it power?...he could arm his servants and conquered two great cities…
3. Was it land?...God told him every place his foot stepped it would be his…his possession.
Cf…V.2 says…and then the question in V.3…”What saith the scriptures?”
The scriptures say it all; answer to every problem in life…eliminate confusion; protect from sin…
Cf…Ps.119:11…is the Word hid in your heart?
Most folks today are victims of overwhelming forces…
Life can be much simpler if the Word is in your heart…
Cf…t.v. , newspaper, …no time for the Word…
How can we discover this Justification?
I. BLESSED IS THE MAN/WOMAN WHOSE SINS ARE FORGIVEN…V. 7
Blessedness can never be experience until certain conditions met.
We speaking of the blessedness of Justification…
Sins never forgiven until three things happen.
A. MUST BE CONFESSION…of our sins to God…all of them.
You can get on knees, say I’m sorry, swear you be a better man/woman…that may not be confession…
You got to get all the hidden, secret things out before God.
Cf…I racked leaves away from air condition unit…dozens of wigglers..(time I would have grab them)
Our sins lie hidden like that…
Sin hates light!...confession means exposing all sins to God.
Cf…1 Jn.1:9 says…but…
B. MUST CONFESS OUR FAULTS…one to another…James 5:16
Beloved, it’s not enough to confess to God alone.
We must confess our faults to one another!
Cf…Now who gone do that!
C. THEN THERE IS COMPLETE FORGIVENESS…for the Lord said in Matt. 6:15
It must be or it can’t be…if you harbor sins…committed or omitted…
Cf…if you retain hatred, envy, ill feelings toward others, there can be no forgiveness.
Reason churches are dead to the moving of God’s Spirit is because of sin held on to.
God’s will for you, for the church, is frustrated, hindered, crippled, cause folks do not meet these conditions.
You got to get rid of your sin.
II. BLESSED IS THE MAN/WOMAN WHOSE SINS ARE COVERED…Rom. 4:7
By what are our sins covered?
A. NOT BY TIME...even though many thinks time erasers everything…it doesn’t.
Cf…centuries ago the city of Pompeii was covered by volcanic ash in an instance…lewd acts.
Archeologists dug and found the evidence.
B. DECEIT WILL NOT COVER…lies, profession, good deeds, reformation, will not cover.
Cf…when God called Adam came crawling out of hiding, fig leaf…
What covers our sins?...nothing but the blood
III, BLESSED IS MAN/WOMAN WHOM THE LORD WILL NOT IMPUTE INIQUITY…Rom 4: 8
If the blood covers then God doesn’t see it…
Cf…in early 20th century up in coal mining regions was poor family, debt at local grocery store, miner saw boy on
tracks, foot stuck, train coming….
The grocer would never again impute a debt to that man.
Are you covered?
You see, justification is what Abraham discovered.
