2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (KJV)8We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Life is the existence of a thing and our lives are measured by growth, reproduction, functional activities and change. Life is full of experiences and these experiences help shape our ideas, our feelings and our emotions that we are currently facing today. The experiences can affect us negatively or positively but either way we will be effected and it will shape our perceptions of the future. woman seem to have gotten to bad end of the stick when it comes to life and the experiences of life. From the beginning when God sentenced Adam, Eve and the serpent for Adams disobedience and Eve and the serpents part in it. God put enmity between Eve and the serpent. Watch this: The enemy hates men but there's a different kinda hatred that the enemy has for woman. Throughout history we woman have fought for a voice in society, fought for a place in the workforce and fought to heard and acceptance in life. We can work the same kinda job as a man and get paid less because we are woman. and because satan is the prince of the air anything and everything here on earth has been challenging for woman because we are hated by the enemy.
What do you do when we've only had negative experiences in life. How do you navigate through life in order to sustain yourself. These are the questions that we often asked our selves as we navigate through life. Lie has a way of issues of what it has to offer and were expected to just take it.
We must understand that the things that we go throught in life is all apart of the process. There is a plan for each and every one of us and depending on the call that God has on your life will depend on what your process will be. Some will experience loss, some will experience life, while some may experience both. Weather it be loss of life or both it is all apart of the process that God has in store for you. Process is the gradual movement form one stage to another. If you would just think back for a moment and look at your life, youll realize that you are not where you used to be. You used to shy, now you speak up, you used to be afraid now your fearless, you use to unsaved and now your saved, sanctified and filled with the holy Ghost and it was all about of the plan for you.
Paul wrote this letter to them at a very vulnerable time in pauls life and he wanted to help keep the church together because of divisions and quarrels. ( expand ) And I want to encourage you all today to remind you that things that your experiencing is all apart of the process. And processes are necessary to get you to the next level that God has in store for you. The 4th chapter and 8 verse starts by explaining how there are things that you go through that may be troubling but it will not stress you out. You may have experienced situations that were uncalled for, beneath you or just plan stupid but those things didn’t leave you stuck. You’ve been talked about, lied on, tricked, hustled, put down and abused but never the less God has not forgotten you.
The Greek word for pressed means to be squeezed, almost like grapes in a winepress. Paul says, “I’m under pressure — but I’m not crushed.”
Some of us are under financial pressure.
Some of us are under family pressure.
Some of us are under ministry pressure.
But here’s the promise: God won’t allow the pressure to destroy you. The same pressure that feels like it’s breaking you is the pressure God is using to make you
"…perplexed, but not in despair."
Perplexed means confused, without answers, and unsure of what to do next. Paul says, “I don’t always understand why things happen, but I don’t lose hope.”
There are times when:
The diagnosis doesn’t make sense.
The rejection letter blindsides you.
The betrayal cuts deep.
But being perplexed doesn’t mean being hopeless. God already has the next step mapped out while you’re still stuck at the question mark. What feels like confusion to you is clarity in His plan.
"…struck down, but not destroyed."
Life will hit you. People will hit you. Circumstances will hit you.
But Paul reminds us — though we fall, we rise again.
Joseph was knocked down into a pit but rose to the palace.
Job was knocked down by loss but restored double.
Jesus was knocked down into the grave but rose on the third day!
Your knockdown isn’t your knockout. This is just a setup for a comeback..
In Hebrews 13:5 he says that he will never leave you or forsake you. We have all experienced being overlooked weather its at work, in your or at church but what do kill will make you stronger.
The 10, 11 and 12 verse says We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you These scriptures allows us to understand what some of the uncomfortable experiences that weve faced in life is all apart of the process. We are experiencing the sufferings of Jesus Christ. 2 timothy 2:12 reminds us that if we suffer with him well reign with him. We said that we wanted more of him, we said Lord here I am use me. He allowing to feel the things that he felt. He’s allowing you to feel the betrayal by people who said they’ll support, He’s allowing you to feel the pain of being rejected by your family and friends and all you wanted to do is help. He’s allowing you to experience all the things the he experience so you can become the man and woman he has called you to be. Some of the situations you’ve encountered made you think that this is it but in order for us to righteously do the work of the Lord we must die so that Jesus will be made manifest in us. We must let old relationship die, let old jobs die, let old ways of thinking die and realize that all things work together for Good and that its all apart of you process.
Walking through that text I realize that the 17th verse of the same chapter says 2 corinthians 4:17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. This reminds me that these situations, these problems, our obstcles are light and they wont last long. And what you’ve been facing in life will not hurt you, harm you, kill you, or damage you, WHY? Because its light. Hold on while your going through the pain, while your going through, sorrows, hold on while your going through because its all about to be over for you. Weeping may endure for a night but Joy cometh in the morning. Hold on because it about to be morning for you. Its seems ruff sometimes, it seems unfair it seems overwhelming but all those situations will work in our favor.
I want to tell you that God will make everything good for you and everything will work out for you. Today, were speaking on how things happen in life and how eventually those things will be made good. People often times associate our problems metaphorically with lemons. When life gives you lemons is associated something unexpected or unfortunate, make lemonade which is make best of a bad situation. I want to shed some light on something that we may have or may have not thought of and that is, Watch this you need lemons in order to make lemonade. You needed negative situations to happen in your life so God can show you who he really is. That time when you got sick was necessary so that you would know that God is a healer, You needed to lose your job with out which you have never known that God as a provider. It was necessary for everyone to turn their backs on you so now you know that God is a comforter. We need to encounter problems because its all apart of the process.
God’s Recipe for Lemonade 🧾
God’s Recipe for Lemonade 🧾
So, how do we turn life’s lemons into God’s lemonade?
Step 1: Squeeze It Through Prayer 🙏
Step 1: Squeeze It Through Prayer 🙏
When life presses you, don’t waste the pain — pray through it.
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication…" (Philippians 4:6)
Step 2: Sweeten It with Praise 🙌
Step 2: Sweeten It with Praise 🙌
Praise shifts your perspective. It takes bitterness and stirs in sweetness.
"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth."
Step 3: Stir It with Faith ✝️
Step 3: Stir It with Faith ✝️
Faith doesn’t deny the lemons — it believes God can make something better out of them.
"And we know that all things work together for good…" (Romans 8:28)
There’s a process to making lemonade. Theres a few ingergiants thats essential in making lemonade. You need water, lemons and sugar to make lemonade. You are the water and unexpected problems and issues are the lemons and God is the sugar.
We are the water, Water carries life 🌱 — Just as no plant can survive without water, God designed people to be carriers of life. When you stay filled with His Spirit, you refresh others.
“Whoever believes in me, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7:38)
Water takes the shape of its container 🫗 — If you pour water into a glass, a bottle, or a vase, it takes the shape of what holds it. In the same way, we often take the shape of the environments we’re in. But if you stay in God’s presence, He’ll mold you into His perfect design instead of letting the world define you.
Water can heal or harm 🌊 — A stream nourishes life, but a flood can destroy it. People, too, carry power — your words, choices, and actions can either refresh those around you or overwhelm them. God calls us to be living water, not destructive waves.
Water finds a way 💦 — Over time, even drops of water can carve out valleys and shape rocks. Likewise, persistent, faith-filled people can break through barriers, transform families, and shift communities.
Lemons represent the unexpected trials, problems and issues — sour situations you didn’t plan for, pray for, or prepare for.
They show up uninvited: layoffs, betrayal, sickness, disappointments.
On their own, lemons are bitter and hard to swallow.
But here’s the good news: lemons aren’t meant to stay bitter. God can transform them into the very ingredient He uses to produce something refreshing in your life.
And it must be mixed together in order for the favor to mix and for it to be called lemonade. All 3 ingredients are essential in making lemonade. With out one or the other ingredient the recipe is incomplete. Water and lemons without sugar is just lemon water. Water and sugar with no lemons is just sugar water. So either way we need sugar so something sweet can happen.
You can have lemons, water, and sugar sitting on the counter, you can put them all together but if you don’t stir it, you’ll never taste lemonade. That’s where faith comes in.
Faith stirs your prayer life.
Faith stirs your praise.
Faith stirs your perspective.
When you stir what God has given you, you turn what was meant to break you into something that builds you.
“When you stir what God has given you, you turn what was meant to break you into something that builds you.”
“When you stir what God has given you, you turn what was meant to break you into something that builds you.”
This is more than a catchy phrase — it’s a spiritual principle. God never gives us lemons without also providing the sugar and water we need. But if we leave those ingredients sitting on the counter of our lives, nothing changes. It’s the stirring — the act of faith — that transforms the bitter into the better.
. Stirring Represents Faith in Action 🥄✝️
. Stirring Represents Faith in Action 🥄✝️
Faith is not passive; it’s active. Stirring means you work with what God gave you, even when you don’t understand it.
God gave David a slingshot, but he had to stir his faith to face Goliath.
God gave the widow a jar of oil, but she had to stir her obedience by pouring it into vessels.
God gave Paul a thorn, but he had to stir his dependence on God’s grace to discover that His strength is made perfect in weakness.
“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” – James 2:17
When you stir, you participate in your own miracle.
Stirring Changes the Mixture 🍋🍯💧
Stirring Changes the Mixture 🍋🍯💧
If you put sugar, lemons, and water in a glass but never stir them, the sweetness stays stuck at the bottom, the sourness stays on top, and the water stays plain. It’s disconnected.
That’s how many believers live — God has already given you the word, the promise, and the tools, but without stirring them together through faith, prayer, and praise, you never taste the transformation.
Stirring blends:
Your problem (lemons) 🟡
God’s grace (sugar) 🍯
Your life (water) 💧
…into a testimony that refreshes others.
Stirring Turns Pressure into Purpose 🌊
Stirring Turns Pressure into Purpose 🌊
Sometimes the very thing meant to break you becomes the building block for your next level when you allow God to work through it.
That heartbreak? It can build compassion.
That rejection? It can build resilience.
That delay? It can build discipline.
“We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28
It’s not the lemon itself that’s the blessing — it’s what God does when you stir it with His Word, His Spirit, and your faith. What was designed to break you down ends up building you up.
Stirring Requires Persistence ⏳🔥
Stirring Requires Persistence ⏳🔥
Sometimes you have to keep stirring even when nothing looks like it’s changing. You pray, but you don’t see results. You sow seeds, but the harvest hasn’t come yet. You serve faithfully, but the breakthrough feels delayed.
Keep stirring anyway.
Because the sweetness is already in there — it just hasn’t risen to the surface yet.
Life will hand you lemons — unexpected problems, trials, and setbacks that seem too sour to handle. But God has already given you everything you need to turn your lemons into lemonade:
You are the water 💧 — the vessel God uses to carry His Spirit.
Your problems are the lemons 🍋 — bitter, yes, but necessary ingredients.
God is the sugar 🍯 — the sweetness that makes your bitter seasons work for your good.
Faith is the spoon 🥄 — it stirs everything together until transformation happens.
Here’s the revelation: When you stir what God has given you, what was meant to break you ends up building you. What the enemy tried to use to tear you down is the very thing God will use to lift you up.
