Some believe the Rapture will occur in September 2025 due to:
: September 23–24 aligns with Rosh Hashanah, linked to the "last trump" (1 Thessalonians 4:16).Feast of Trumpets
: 2,000 years from Jesus’ crucifixion (32 AD–2032) minus a seven-year Tribulation points to 2025.Biblical Timelines
: A 2025 UN Peace Summit and potential Israel peace treaty fulfill "peace and security" prophecies (1 Thessalonians 5:3).Global Events
: Asteroid Apophis (2029) and the 70th Jubilee (2024–2025) suggest prophetic timing.Celestial Signs
: Personal revelations and numerical patterns (e.g., 77 years since 1948) point to September.Dreams and Visions
1844 – The Great Disappointment (William Miller)
William Miller, a Baptist preacher, predicted the Second Coming between March 21, 1843, and March 21, 1844, based on Daniel 8:14 and a 2,300-year prophecy starting from 457 BC. When 1844 passed, his follower Samuel Snow revised the date to October 22, 1844, tied to the Day of Atonement. Thousands of Millerites sold possessions and waited, but the event didn’t occur, leading to widespread disillusionment. This failure birthed the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
: 1914 – Jehovah’s Witnesses (Charles Taze Russell)
Charles Taze Russell, founder of the Bible Student movement (later Jehovah’s Witnesses), predicted Christ’s return in 1914, based on biblical chronology and the “times of the Gentiles” (Luke 21:24). He believed 1914 would mark the end of the world or the Rapture. When it didn’t happen, the group reinterpreted the event as an invisible return, shifting focus to spiritual rather than physical fulfillment.
: 1988 – Edgar Whisenant’s “88 Reasons”
Edgar Whisenant, a former NASA engineer, published , predicting the Rapture during Rosh Hashanah, September 11–13, 1988. He based this on calculations involving Israel’s 1948 reestablishment and a 40-year generation. The book sold millions, but when the date passed, Whisenant revised predictions to 1989, 1993, and 1994, losing credibility.88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988
: 1994 – Harold Camping’s First Prediction
Harold Camping, a radio broadcaster, predicted the Rapture on September 6, 1994, using complex calculations from biblical timelines, particularly Daniel and Revelation. He distributed literature through Family Radio, but the failure led to revised predictions and a shift in his focus to later dates.
: 2011 – Harold Camping’s Second Prediction
Camping again predicted the Rapture for May 21, 2011, followed by the world’s end on October 21, 2011, based on numerological interpretations of biblical texts (e.g., 7,000 years from Noah’s flood). Billboards and media campaigns spread the message globally. After May 21 passed, Camping claimed a spiritual judgment occurred, with physical destruction still set for October. The failures damaged his reputation, and he later admitted his error.
: 2012 – Mayan Calendar Speculation
While not strictly Christian, some evangelical groups linked the Mayan calendar’s supposed “end” on December 21, 2012, to the Rapture or apocalyptic events, interpreting it alongside biblical prophecies. The date, tied to New Age and pop culture speculation, saw no fulfillment, with scholars clarifying the Mayan calendar merely reset its cycle.
: 2017 – The Revelation 12 Sign
Some Christians, fueled by online communities, pointed to September 23, 2017, as a Rapture date due to a rare astronomical alignment resembling Revelation 12:1–2 (a woman clothed with the sun, moon under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars). The constellation Virgo, with Jupiter’s orbit, was interpreted as signaling the Rapture. Despite significant online buzz, no event occurred, and critics noted the alignment’s commonality in history.
One Thing is Certain: Jesus will not return on these dates

The Present Suffering

Why do we long for Jesus to come back?
It’s not just us: All Creation Groans
Romans 8:18-25
After the Promises of Revelation
Judgment of a People, Promises of Future Judgment, Victory of Jesus (over sin, death, and Satan), Marriage Feast of the Lamb (Justification and Righteous presentation of His People), Doom of Satan and His Children to the Eternal Lake of Fire, New Heavens and the New Earth and the New Jeru
Revelation 22:20–21 “He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.”
Promise: Matthew 24:35 ““Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.”

Timing

READ TEXT
Shift
From Judgment that will soon come to pass -
Turning of the Temple, Gathering of His Church in Faith -> What is the Culmination of Faith, Ultimate Hope
“Those Days” to “That Day” / Days of the Lord -> The Day of the Lord
Subject: From “This Generation” to “All of the Nations” - Global Scale
Scope is widened (Time) -
Matthew 24:48 ““But if that evil slave says in his heart, ‘My master is not coming for a long time,’”
Matthew 25:5 ““Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep.”
Matthew 25:19 ““Now after a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.”
But Imminent (Near or Far) The Time for Response is now
For all authority to judge has been given to the Son:
Matthew 7:21–23 ““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’”
Consider the Practices of Betrothal in Ancient Times:
In ancient Jewish culture, a betrothal was a binding commitment, far more serious than a modern engagement. After the betrothal agreement, the bridegroom would return to his father’s house to prepare a place for his bride, often taking months or even a year. The bride, meanwhile, would prepare herself, always ready for the groom’s return, which could happen at any moment, often unannounced and typically at night. The groom’s arrival was heralded by a shout or trumpet blast, signaling the wedding procession and the moment to bring the bride to their new home.
Be like the Days of Noah:
Going about their days
Planning for the future
Then the Flood came
There will be two Men doing the same thing in the field / Two women doing the same thing at the mill
Food preparation (grinding a millstone to prepare bread)
One will be taken - not raptured, but for judgment (One will be taken out)
