I. Jesus Never Sinned, But He Was Able to Minister to Others. Because He Knew What It Was Like to Be Temped

A. Jesus Was Fasted in the Wilderness for 40 Days and Nights

1. The Devil Tried to Get Him to Make Bread Out of Stones

Matthew 4:1–4 “1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

2. Jesus Resisted and Used Scriptures Saying That Man Doesn’t Live by Bread Alone, But by Every Word of God

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

3. The Devil Took Him Up to Holy City on the Pinnacle of the Temple

Matthew 4:5–9 “5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

4. The Devil Told Him to Jump Down and the Angels Would Protect Him from Dashing His Foot Against the Stone

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

5. Jesus Told the Devil Not to Tempt the Lord Your God

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

6. Then the Devil Took Him to a Very High Mountain, Show Him All the Kingdoms of the World

7. And All of Their Glory

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

8. The Devil Said that He Would Give Them to Jesus, If Jesus Would Bow Down and Worship Him

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.”

9. Jesus Said to Satan to Ge Thee Hence

10. Thou Shalt Worship and Serve Only God

Matthew 4:10–11 “10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

11. Then the Devil Left Him, and Angels Ministered to Him

11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

II. If You Don’t Yield to Temptation You Also Have a Testament

1. Because You Resisted Temptation of Sinning

Proverbs 1:10 “10 My son, if sinners entice thee, Consent thou not.”

2. Yielding to Temptation Can Cause You to Become Captive by the Sin

2 Timothy 2:24–26 “24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

3. And God Will Have to Help You Out of the Snare of the Devil

4. Because the Devil Has You Captive to Sin

5. And That is Where the Devil Want You to Be

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
