Faith Industries Devo 1:11

Theme:

Honoring God with all we have and the best of what we have not our leftovers and accepting His loving discipline leads to true blessings and spiritual maturity.
Proverbs 3:9–12 NKJV
9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. 11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; 12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

1. Honor God with Your Possessions (vv. 9–10)

Proverbs 3:9–10 NKJV
9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
- Put God first with your resources, giving to God should not be an after thought.
-When God is honored, He promises provision and abundance.

Cross Reference:

Philippians 4:17 NKJV
17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.
Proverbs 11:24–25 NKJV
24 There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty. 25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

2. Do Not have disdain for the Lord’s Discipline (vv. 11–12)

Proverbs 3:11–12 NKJV
11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; 12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
-God’s correction is a sign of His love, not rejection.
-Discipline trains us for righteousness and keeps us from straying.
-Discipling in my life is evidence of God’s love for me

Cross Reference:

Revelation 3:19 NKJV
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
Proverbs 29:17 NKJV
17 Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul.

Application Questions

1. In what ways can I practically honor God with my resources today (My time, talent, and treasures)?
2. Do I see God’s correction as punishment or as an expression of His love?
3. Where might God be disciplining or correcting me right now, and how should I respond in faith?
4. How can I reorder my priorities so that my giving and living reflect that God comes first and is not an after thought?
