Ordained to be Sent

Good Morning Church!

Glad to see you…Bibles out Mark 3.

I hope you have had a great weekend…I hope its been a good break for you from a busy week…

I had a busy week as well, work all day…then in the evening Ive been finishing up a chicken coop I started building like 3 months ago lol

This was an elaborate build…had to make it both functional and “pretty” for my wife…this thing was frustrating to build (plans weren’t entirely accurate…ran back to the hardware store a million times…

Hardest part was I started out doing the work by myself…which i usually enjoy…chickens were out growing the brooder…running out of time…

SO I asked my wife to help me…and from there it went a lot better…

“MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK”

Thats a biblical principle…its rooted in scripture….

Ecclesiastes 4:9 ” Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. “

When there is a heavy or difficult task at hand…its nice to have many hands on it…

Thats what we are going to see today…

Yall ready to get into Gods Word this morning???

READ V7-19

V7-12 (tells us a ton about the type of people that are flocking to Christ and the effect His ministry is having)

The Great Multitude:

Galilee (Northern Israel)

Judea (Southern Israel)

Jerusalem (Central Israel…Capital)

Idumaea (Edomites…South of the dead sea)

Beyond the Jordan, Tyre and Sidon (gentile land eastward)

THE ENTIRE REGION-FROM THE MEDITERRANEAN PAST THE DEAD SEA are flocking to Him.

THE ENTIRE REGION IS HEARING ABOUT THE MIRACLES…the healings…the casting out of demons…the teaching with authority from heaven

The truth is being preached…

AND ITS DRAWING THE NEEDING PEOPLE!!!

Desperate people…The diseased…the afflicted…

We have been seeing Jesus casting and healing since verse 21 of chapter 1!!!!

The last few weeks in our study of Mark… its been the same thing over and over again…this is how the ministry of Christ began!!!

Preaching, healing, casting out devils…and He did this for an extended period…and He did it ALOT YALL!!!

Walking up and down the banks of the Sea…

Day and night…

Mark 1:32 “And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.”

He is working into the night, non stop, to heal these people in need!

And now, well into chapter 3, He is still working in the region…(lots to heal here)

BEFORE (mark 1:33) He had whole cities coming to Him…

NOW the entire region is flocking to Him...

The multitude quickly turned into a GREAT MULTITUDE!!!

And the crowds are so bad that Jesus is being pushed into the sea by a mob of desperate people who need Him…

Trying to touch Him to be healed (nothing more dangerous than a desperate man…he will do anything to be saved)

So He tells the disciple “get me a boat” to get some distance between Him and the mob…

And He goes up onto a mountain…and called His disciple to go with Him….

The work set before our Lord is a great work…

And He, though is the LORD, is in human form…He gets hungry, thirsty, and tired…and He in His human flesh cant be everywhere at once…

He could use more hands yall…

So WHATS HE DO????

HE ORDAINS THEM…

The Lord Calls (men into His service) V14

READ v14

AND HE ORDAINED THE 12:

He needs hands…so He looks at these men following Him…

(At this time in scripture) These men I always picture just standing around watching…(Its a Union job…one man in a hole digging 12 guys standing outside the hole watching lol)

He said “time to go to work boys!”

He ordains (He appointed them) to a role…

He called these men into action…

To work as one for ONE…

I want you to notice something about these men…

Simple men…Peter, Andrew, John, James (fishermen)

At times graceless…John and James (Sons of thunder) (they wanted to call down fire from heaven to burn up men in Samaria for rejecting Jesus)

Hated men… Matthew (tax collector, Roman traitor)

Low men…Simon the zealot (a rebel group that wanted the people of Jerusalem to rise up and take back Israel from Rome)

Zealots assassinated many Romans and Jewish traitors…

UNDERSTAND…Matthew was a Jewish man who collected taxes for Rome…

Before Christ…Simon might have tried to kill Matthew!!!!

READ THROUGH THE 4 GOSPELS…You will find that…These dudes were all jacked up…

Arguing, complaining, questioning, disobeying… I mean Peter denied Christ 3 times!!!!

These were messed up dudes…but thats who the Lord called to work for Him!!!

I love what Paul says here in 1 Corinthians about the type of people God calls…

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 “For you see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world (lBASE= Low things,non noble, low born), and things which are despised, has God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are: That no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, he that glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

So if you are sitting there doubting your calling…to work for the Kingdom…

DONT…

And if you feel like…”REALLY ME??” “You mean IM SUPPOSED TO PREACH THE GOSPEL?!?!?!”

“IM SUPPOSED TO DISCIPLE?!?!?!”

“IM SUPPOSED TO SERVE THE BODY?!?!?!

“IM SUPPOSED TO WORK FOR THE LORD?!?!?”

But Im no pastor….

Im no evangelist…

Im no bible scholar…

Im to weak…I fall constantly

WHO AM I ????

HERE THIS!!!!!!!

YOU ARE A CHILD OF THE LIVING GOD…A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST…YOU ARE A CHOSEN PRIESTHOOD…Priests work for God…THATS YOU!!!

IF YOU PLACED YOUR FAITH IN CHRIST…THAT IS YOU!!!

1 Peter 2:5 “You also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ”

THIS IS YOUR ORDINATION CHURCH…

IF YOU ARE A CHRIST FOLLOWER YOU ARE CALLED TO KINGDOM WORK…

Jesus called His disciples into action…And after this…He calls His Church His hands and feet into action…

BUT

He doesn't just call men into His service…He also…

The Lord Equips (men for His service) V15

READ V14b-5

Jesus has been:

-preaching with authority

-healing sickness

-and casting out devils

Since chapter 1….

NOW He is calling and equipping His disciples to do His work.

He didn't just ordain them…HE GAVE THEM THE ABILITY!!!

He is giving them power to preach, to heal, and to cast out devils.

These were all the works Jesus was doing at this time…

This is the labor that was needed for the Jews…Signs and miracles (1 Cor 1:22)

This was the work Jesus had for the Jews…And He has called these 12 men to be apart of this work…

BUT AS WE READ THIS…WE HAVE TO SEE…THAT THE LORD CALLS US TO WORK AS THE CHURCH AS WELL…

Just as He called the disciples to do His work…He calls us as the church to do His work!!!

The Word of God calls us “workman who needeth not to be ashamed” (2 Timothy 2:15 )

1 Corinthians 3:9 “For we are laborers together with God: you are God’s husbandry, you are God’s building.”

YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED AND EQUIPPED TO DO THIS!!!!

And How has God equipped us???

HE HAS EQUIPPED US…WITH HIS WORD!!!!

Paul tells us the tool and the power God has given us to do His work:

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works.”

ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY THE LORD AND IS PROFITABLE FOR…

Doctrine

Reproof

Correction

Instruction in Righteousness

ALL FOR WHAT??? “That the man of God may be perfect, THOROUGHLY FURNISHED TO ALL GOOD WORKS!!!

Furnished means complete…put together and ready to go!!!

EQUIPPED!!!!

The word of God prepares you fully for the good work God has called you to!!!!

SO WHATS THE BIG IDEA TODAY????

READ YOUR BIBLE!!!

Open it up!!!

If you are a true follower of Christ…A member of the body of Christ (the Church) and you read the calling of the church through Paul…

-To proclaim the gospel

-To serve the body of Christ

-To pray

-To stand firm on true doctrine

THE HOLY SPIRIT INSIDE YOU WILL BE PUSHING YOU TO GO AND DO HIS WORK!!!!

And the very word of God you are reading is not only calling you…BUT EQUIPPING YOU AS YOU GO!!!

Showing you the way…

Giving you the words to say…

Making you bolder…

Giving you confidence…

Strengthening your faith…

Giving you compassion…

Sanctifying you….

ALL FOR HIS GLORY!!!!

You are called…you are equipped…ARE YOU WORKING???

Paul did ministry in Corinth with a man named Apollos…

Paul says I planted…Apollos watered…God gave the increase…

They went into a Gentile, Pagan worshipping, sinful city…

And they went to work…And God blessed the City of Corinth through their Labor…

And He gets the Glory!!!!

Are you planting???

Are you watering????

Or are you standing around watching???

YOU ARE CALLED TO WORK…
