Why a gift

Eph 2:8

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

A gift always has a giver and a receiver.

The giver spend something to make avaiable the gift.

The receiver always receive the gift freely.

If a gift therefore requires paying for it even if it is a small amount, if fails to qualify to be called free gift.

Ac 8:20

But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!

In Christ, God made all the gifts available to all men, FREELY.

Anytime we try to use something to get the Gift we sin against God.

Purpose of a gift

Intended to be used by the receiver

It is to be enjoyed by the receiver and user of it. That is it must rejoice the heart.

Reminds the receiver that someone is thinking about you. You are not alone.

People are sad becuse all we have is out of toiling and striggle to achieve. We are therefore not used to a gift.

Gifts that are noteworthy.

1. Salvation through faith

Eph 2:8

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

Jn 4:10

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”

2. Eternal Life through Christ

Ro 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

3. Grace for Serving

Eph 3:7

Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace, which was given me by the working of his power.

1 Co 7:7

I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.

2 Ti 1:6

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,

Stirring up the gift is sometimes needed. iotherwise it will stay doment.

4. Gift of Righteousness

Ro 5:17

For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

5. The Holy Spirit

Ac 10:45

And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.

Ac 2:38

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Conclusion:

What should we do then with this knowledge.

Ec 5:19

Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God.

Live the life that is completely for serving the Lord. Help others to know the Lord and come closer.

Let Christ live through you.

Make use of the gifts of God and enjoy them.
