Cultural Chaos | Combating the Chaos

I want to first and foremost, mention the Mass Shooting that happened this week

-Annunciation Catholic School

-Our hearts are with the families and even the two kids who were shot (HARPER & FLETCHER)

-There is Demonic oppression. I am not saying the shooter is innocent but we have to recognize that there is a reason your soul is valueable and we have to Trust God! Today if you are feeling these thoughts come here, come to the church! We wont shame you for believing you are being attacked we will use the blood of jesus and cast any demonic activity where it belongs.

Last week we spoke on how God is wanting to speak in the middle of Chaos.

TODAY AS WE CONTINUE I WANT TO SHOW HOW WE CAN COMBAT CHAOS

The church exists to bring order, when the world brings chaos!

The best way to fight Chaos is recognizing the Gifts God has given us through the bible!

IF WE TREAT THE BIBLE LIKE A RABIT’S FOOT we neglect the POWER it has!

God’s word is Living and is a weapon against Chaos!

TODAY if you apart of DFC you are accepting the calling, to fight back against the Cultural Chaos!

YOU DONT HAVE TO COMBAT THE CHAOS ALONE!

THE CHURCH IS HERE FOR YOU! - DISCIPLE GROUPS

Paul writes letters to 7 churches…

-One of the churches was in a very wealthy, powerful city! (Sound like the USA)

-MONEY WAS AN IDOL, and people were creating IDOLS!

-Massive Spiritual warfare. Demonic oppression…

(Artists aren’t hiding the demonic strongholds anymore, SHOWS have corrupted what familes are supposed to look like in an innocent way.)

WHETHER YOU KNOW IT OR NOT YOU ARE UNDER ATTACK!

But Paul is writing a letter of how Proud this Church stood in a time of cultural chaos! CHURCH OF EPHESUS.

ACT 19 -ONE CHURCH STARTED MASS REVIVAL in a time a Culture needed it!

-The Spirit Fell and people were filled with HOLY SPIRIT!

WE NEED TO BE A CHURCH THAT GOES BACK LIKE EPHESUS

“If we walk like Ephesus, we’ll witness what Ephesus witnessed.”

PAUL Encourages Ephesus by Pryaing for Spiritual Strength

POINT 1:Pray for Spiritual Strength

Ephesians 3:14–21 “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

When we allow the Spirit into our Services we are seeing our generations impacted!

Here at DFC, we are a church that allows the Spirit to move! There is no program to good, that we arent willing to change WHY?

IF WE WANT TO BE A CHURCH THAT COMBATS CHAOS,

POINT 2: WE HAVE TO UNIFY AS THE BODY OF CHRIST

Ephesians 4:1–16 “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

We have to understand God has brought us all together!

-We are supposed to UNIFY as the body of Christ. How do you create unity?

I can tell you what not to do…

-Call out in condemning way. (HERE AT DFC, we love you! We know you’re not perfect none of us are! We are all just trying to figure all this out!)

-Gossip or slander

-Let our previous churches mess come in here… (That is why you have to be careful who you are listening to, not because of my ego! But if you arent careful you begin to build your house on soil not rock!)

Psalm 133:1–2 “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes!”

POINT 3: WE HAVE TO WALK IN LOVE!

John 17:23

23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

God is after agape: (God’s Love)

Definition: The decision to compassionately, righteously, and responsibly seek the well-being of another.

-The decision, not emotion (Romans 12) Don’t have butterflies about the people who hate you, make the decision. 

-Compassion- Bring Empathy. Understand backgrounds, past experiences

-Righteously- Love always has a standard. and is connected to truth. God never tells us to love a lie. We don’t love something that is outside the will of God. “We can love people who are outside the will of God but its not Biblical love” that’s Emotional Like.

-Responsibly-Love doesn’t replace responsibility. the Bible says if a man doesn’t work he should not eat. 

-Well-being: to seek their well-being. Pray for each other and build each other up! Challenge each other.

PSALM 133 Behold, how good and pleasant it is     when brothers dwell in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head,     running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron,     running down on the collar of his robes! It is like the dew of Hermon,     which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.

Oneness of Purpose that is fulfilling God’s will, and doing the work to achieve what He is calling us to!

“WE ARE Made in His image, we don’t just reflect God—we set the example for the world to follow.”

Ephesians 5 WE HAVE TO LOVE THE PEOPLE MADE IN HIS IMAGE!

Ephesians 4:12–16 “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”

You have a part here, this place is home!

If there is Chaos in the culture we need to be a place where the waves calm and people can find peace!

GOD LOVES KIDS, SO SHOULD WE!

Psalm 127:3-5 “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”

PARENTS HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY!

Deuteronomy 6:6–7 “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

GOD WANTS US TO DEDICATE OUR CHILDREN!

1 Samuel 1:27–28 “For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. Therefore I have lent him to the Lord. As long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.”

Do you commit today to raise your child in the training and instruction of the Lord, to pray for them, and to model a life of faith in Jesus Christ?

Church family, raising children in the ways of the Lord is not just the responsibility of the parents but also of the faith community. Will you commit to support these parents through prayer, encouragement, and by living as examples of Christ for this child?
