1. Renew Your Mind Daily
1. Renew Your Mind Daily
Romans 12:1–2 "I therefore beg you, brothers, for the mercies of God, to present your body by living sacrifice, holy and pleasant to God, which is your rational worship. And do not conform to this century, but transform yourselves by the renewal of your mind, so that you experience what is the good, pleasant and perfect will of God."
Imagine that your mind is a social media feed. You wouldn’t keep following pages that only show negativity, would you? The same goes for your thoughts! Be the curator of your own mind, unfollow the negativity, and subscribe to positivity. Philippians 4:8 encourages us to think about things that are noble and lovely. Let’s have a feed of faith and hope!
Perhaps emphasize how the call to not be conformed to this world involves a deliberate choice to prioritize our spiritual transformation over worldly distractions. Romans 12:1-2 is a powerful reminder that offering our lives as living sacrifices to God involves a daily commitment to renewing our minds. This passage suggests the importance of embracing godly values and mindset to replace worldly influences, ultimately leading to a deeper, more vibrant relationship with God.
2. Rethink Your Relationships
2. Rethink Your Relationships
2 Corinthians 6:14–16 "Don't put yourself in an unequal yoke with the unbelievers; because what society can there be between justice and iniquity? Or what communion, of the light with the darkness? What harmony, between Christ and the Evil One? Or what union, of the believer with the unbeliever? What connection is there between God's sanctuary and idols? Because we are the sanctuary of the living God, as he himself said: I will dwell and walk among them; I will be their God, and they will be my people."
Imagine a heavy backpack filled with rocks, symbolizing burdensome relationships that weigh us down. Just as we need to let go of unnecessary weight when hiking, we must evaluate our friendships. Jesus advised us to love our neighbors as ourselves—this means recognizing when a relationship is unhealthy or harmful. It's time to assess if our relationships bring joy and strength or if they hinder us.
You could explore how being yoked with unbelievers can dilute our faith and pull us away from God’s path. These verses highlight the importance of maintaining distinct spiritual boundaries to stay aligned with God’s purpose for us. It’s a call to assess our relationships and commitments, ensuring they reflect our faith and uphold God's standards, thus fostering a life of holiness and spiritual growth.
3. Respond to the Divine Call
3. Respond to the Divine Call
2 Corinthians 6:17–18 "Therefore, withdraw from their midst, separate yourselves, says the Lord; do not touch impure things; and I will receive you, I will be your Father, and you will be children to me, says the Almighty Lord."
Sometimes as teenagers, you might feel lost and overwhelmed by choices about your future. It is only through prayer and seeking God that we begin to understand the importance of His call. Just like the disciples dropped their nets to follow Christ, we too must sometimes drop our own plans to answer the call of God. It requires faith and trust, but it leads to a life of purpose and fulfillment.
Maybe stress the need to come out and be separate from worldly ways as a divine call to holiness. This section assures us of God’s promise to be a father to us when we choose His path over worldly distractions. It encourages believers to trust in God’s provision and love while stepping away from influences that hinder spiritual growth, leading to a more profound experience of His presence and guidance.
