Galatians 6:7-8(NKJV)

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

On the afternoon of March 9, 1977 I heard that Bible Verse for the first time. Early that day, I was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to sale.

My best friend, Paulie and I were on our way to high school that sunny but chilly day in Connecticut.

One of our friends saw us walking and offered us a ride. While in the vehicle, they starting smoking marijuana. I didn’t participate, because I started to regret the life I was living in the drug user and drug dealer world.

My plans for the day, was to sell the remaining weed [marijuana] I had to pay off my drug dealer and stop this crazy cycle of using drugs.

But, no sooner that the joint [marijuana] was lit we were pulled over for a busted taillight. The police officer smelt the marijuana and told us to get out of the car.

We were search and I was arrest since I had roughly a quarter pound of marijuana in my possession all divided up to sell. I started selling marijuana so I could earn money so I could smoke more marijuana. But I never really could get enough. So on that day I planed to sell these 4 ounces and pay off the dealer who provided the illegal drugs to me.

After I was arrested, questioned, and release by the police until my court date. I went home and was sitting in my room reflecting on what I had done. I turned on the radio to find some music and I stumble upon a preacher reading Galatians 6:7-8

“7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

Wow, I thought to myself. I deserve all the trouble that came my way today. I reaped what I have been sowing. I planted trouble and trouble came my way.

That day was the start of God’s Word penetrating my heart and mind. I began to realize that all my troubles were because of the choices that I’ve been making.

Conclusion

This Bible principle is absolutely true. If we plant apple seeds, apples will grow. If you plant poison ivy, poison ivy will grow.

If I plant good deeds, good will come my way, and if I plant evil deeds, evil deeds will come back to me.

The same Bible truth will be fulfilled in each of us.

Today, we must know that our choices, and our actions matter. We have all have sinned, and are unable to approach a Holy Perfect God. However, Jesus Christ, came to earth to pay the price for my sins, and for your sins. All each of us needs take the right action and look to Jesus Christ, and to chose daily to trust Him as our Lord and Savior.
