269. The Triumphal Entry
It is obvious that all the gospels are telling the same story
They all include Jesus riding on a donkey while the synoptics say how Jesus got the donkey John just implies he was riding a donkey (because he quotes the prophecy).
Only Matthew and John say riding on a donkey’s colt was to fulfill prophecy.
On the colt we read Matthew saying it was a donkey with it’s colt, Mark and Luke say a young donkey that has never been ridden.
Matthew and Mark says garments and branches, Luke says garments and John says palm branches
All record the crowd shouting (Luke says his followers), all record “Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Luke says King instead of one).
Luke and John give reason for the people…Luke says “all the wonderful miracles they had seen” and John says “Jesus calling Lazarus from the tomb…”
John adds a comment about the Pharisees.
270. Jesus Weeps over Jerusalem
Only Luke records this event.
271. Jesus in Jerusalem (Cleansing of the Temple) (See no 25 & 273)
We have already discussed the cleansing of the temple.
272. Parable of the Barren Fig Tree (See no 207)
We have already discussed the barren fig tree.
273 The Cleansing of the Temple (See no 25)
We have already discussed this section.
274. The Chief Priests and the Scribes Conspire against Jesus
We have already discussed this section.
275. The Fig Tree is Withered
In section 207 and 272 we read about the parable of the barren fig tree and Jesus cursing the fig tree for not bearing fruit.
Here we see in Matthew and Mark the fig tree withered.
Marks account is longer and we see him talking about faith and asking with faith. He also addresses forgiving others.
We see all these ideas in the other gospel accounts in various places.
276. The Question about Authority
We have already discussed this section.
277. The Parable of Two Sons
Matthew tells a parable of two sons. One did what the father asks the other didn’t.
Jesus uses this to point out the acceptance of John’s baptism of repentance.
Luke also records the Pharisees and experts in religious law rejecting John’s baptism without the parable.
Mark and John record nothing of this.
278. The Parable of the Wicked Tenants
See Handout
279. The Parable of the Great Supper (See no 216)
We Have already discussed this Section.
