Cal Ripken, Jr.’s name has become synonymous with strength, character, endurance and integrity. His philosophy of working hard, playing with passion and enjoying the game has made a tremendous impact on the sports world and on fans everywhere.
On the evening of September 6, 1995, Cal Ripken Jr. played in his 2,131st consecutive game, breaking Lou Gehrig’s thought to be unbreakable record. Ripken ended The Streak on September 20, 1998 when he voluntarily removed himself from the Orioles lineup after 2,632 straight games.
