It Don't Make No Sense

I love us as a people. We have some of the best sayings in our community. When we say it don’t make no sense its usually a way of communicating that something isn’t adding up. It Don’t make no sense...(Negative run) but on the flip side of the coin we also say it when something is extremely good, but the surprise is still that it doesn’t add up (positive run).

Cross is Weird (v. 18-21)

To the world: foolishness.

To the believer: power.

The world’s wisdom failed; God’s wisdom saves. Shout: “What the world laughs at is the very thing that lifts us!”

Crucifixion is Crazy Work (v.22-25)

Jews wanted signs.

Greeks wanted wisdom.

Everybody wanted God on their terms.

But God showed up on His own terms: Christ crucified. Shout: “God doesn’t fit into our boxes—He breaks them wide open!”

Calls the Weak (v.26-29)

Consider your calling...

Not many of you were wise, powerful, strong...

God chose what was low and despised...the cross, Jesus

NO can boast

Christ is Wisdom (v.30-31)

Christ is the wisdom of God is is that in person, in that fulfillment, and in practicality.

He is wisdom: righteousness, sanctification, redemption. We can’t be righteous of our self, so the wisdom of God provided a way to make us righteouss....we can’t santify ourself so God in his wisdom gave us Christ who sanctifies us...we can redeem ourself so God in his wisdom sent us a redeemer.

So, you don’t have to be a genious or a scholar, or a sunday school teacher or preacher to have the infinite wisdom of God. All you have to do is know Jesus. And if you know Jesus you have wisdom.

I still ask why sometimes church. I do. I ask why because I don’t understand everything. I don’t understand why God does this or that....

But the wisdom of God does answer “why” it answers “that”. It doesn’t answer “how” it answers “that”, it doesn't answer “when” it answers “that”. It doesn’t answer “who” it answers “that”.
