Why read the Bible?

Notes
Transcript

So last week we introduced about having a Daily Quite Time
To introduce the idea of what we do on a quite time
What is a quiet time?
What does it look like
So probably one of the more well know things or pieces of a quite time
What do you think is part of a quiet time??
Which is time spent with Jesus
Is to read out Bible
Who has a Bible?
Who reads their Bible?
Why is it important to read out Bible
Jesus says that we cannot live on physical Bread Alone but that on ever words that comes out of the mouth of God
Matthew 4:4 NASB95
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’ ”
When we read the Bible it gives us information and nutrients
We need to be reading the Bible just like you need to eat healthy to
Shows the Character of God
When we read our Bibles we get to know things about God
Jeremiah 9:23–24 NASB95
23 Thus says the Lord, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; 24 but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.
When we read out Bible we know that God is the one who exercises Justice and grace and mercy on the world
When you and I read out Bibles we know that God loves each and everyone of us
Romans 5:8 NASB95
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
We know that God’s love doesn’t allow us to stay the same anymore
We know that when we read out Bibles
God desires that we honor our Father and mothers
Exodus 20:12 NASB95
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
Do you understand why we are to Read our Bibles?
it’s how we get to know God and how to grow our relationship with God
Hebrews 13:5 NASB95
Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,”
To also know that God goes before us and owns the cows on a thousand hills
Deuteronomy 31:8 NASB95
“The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Psalm 50:10 NASB95
“For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills.
We don’t know that about God if we aren’t reading Gods word
we forget or don’t know that God loves us so much if we aren’t spending time in His word
then we start stinking thinking and having bad thoughts
that’s why we read our Bibles
