“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” is probably the most taken out of context verse in the entire Bible. Today we will look at how to properly apply its truth in context with the preceding verses and life circumstances surrounding Paul’s recording of this commitment!

1. At various life stages, concern may look different

a. Sometimes we have the physical means to help

b. sometimes all we can do is pray

2. Contentment must be learned

a. We should be content in all physical situations

b. We should never be content with the spiritual condition of the world

3. Verse thirteen is a commitment not a universal promise

a. Remember Paul is in prison

b. Paul is facing death

c. Paul is at times in need of physical things

d. Paul is whole-heartedly dependent on the Lord

Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
