The story of Acts begins with the Holy Spirit moving in ways that left people confused—even thinking the disciples were drunk. But out of that moment, Peter preached boldly and thousands came to faith. Sometimes what doesn’t make sense to us is exactly what God uses to display His power and bring transformation.

Message Title: Unstoppable in the Waiting
Prayer

ME: Katrina and I

Sometimes in the moment life doesn’t make sense… but God is moving.

We: We’ve all been there…

When life feels like it’s upside down… when it’s chaotic and nothing makes sense or add up.
Maybe you’re waiting for… An answer to prayer Going through a transition that does not make sense A spouse A health scare Or you’re trying to figure out your next move in life… You don’t know what God is doing and it just doesn’t make sense.
That’s the tension we see in Scripture often… What looks chaotic might actually be God gearing up for something unstoppable
The story of the early church in Acts starts in a moment of fear, waiting, and even confusion. Nothing made sense until God moved!

God:

Acts 1:4 - Jesus tells them to wait…
They didn’t know how long but they obeyed the command
Acts 1:12-26 (SUMMARIZE) - Matthias is chosen - They didn’t wait passively
Waiting is not passive! It was expectant It was prayerful It was obedient
Acts 2:1 - Then comes the day of Pentecost…
Pentecost (pentēkostē = “fiftieth”) → A celebration 50 days after Passover celebrating the harvest
Acts 2:4 - A feast about harvest and God was now doing a spiritual harvest
Acts 2:12-14 - Even people who looked at them were dealing with confusion because often what God is doing does not always make sense at face value…
Acts 2:41 - But Peter begins to preach and ultimately 3000 of the people listening turn to God and are saved that day.
Something similar happened many years prior on the same day…
After God’s people exit Egypt they are told to wait but they don’t… GOLDEN CALF
Exodus 32: 28 - They don’t wait - Golden Calf - 3000 die
Same day - Same situation - Different outcome At Sinai impatience brought death. At Pentecost, obedience brought life.
It’s interesting… Same day and it’s confusing until you see the end. - Exodus - 3000 people die - God then creates a celebration for harvest Leviticus 23:15-16 A thank you & trusting God with the rest of the harvest to follow - SAME DAY… God brings SPIRITUAL HARVEST literally the first fruits of the church On that day…“Israel brought the firstfruits of the harvest. God gave the firstfruits of the Church.”
What looks chaotic to the world can be the VERY THING GOD is using to write his bigger story
See the church wasn’t unstoppable because everything looked good and made sense. NOOOO THE CHURCH WAS UNSTOPPABLE because they waited, obeyed, and they TRUSTED the the spirit.

You: We studied but now we have to apply it…

Where is God asking you to wait right now? What feels chaotic right now right now? What are you uncertain about right now?
Hear me when I say this… Don’t miss what God is doing because it doesn’t make sense right now.
WAIT with expectation STAY connected to the source JOIN God’s mission through obedience

We: It’s 2025 but…

It’s 2025 but… The same spirit that saved 3000 that day is still moving, still saving, still filling us with power today.
Church this unstoppable church is STILL VERY ALIVE TODAY… It’s us.
