Northside… COME ON! It’s so good to be with you this evening.
It only seems right to start this night off in prayer and I’d like to ask Jonathan and Bobby to come and pray.
Tonight my heart is bursting… and in some ways, I am already in celebration mode…
There is a huge celebration coming… and I hope we’re all there for it.
Before I do anything else, I feel a deep need to recognize and ask for your help in thanking people…
The rest of the elder board at Northside… you are fearless with a deep desire to do it the right way. So thankful to partner with you guys… and love the way you ache over leaving this family well. Not another group of men I trust more. Anytime, Anyplace, anywhere
.
To Kevin Kropf and Ron Wobig: Kevin was unable to attend this evening… but I need to brag about these two… the hours, footwork, and sacrifice in helping us get us here… is seen and appreciated.
To all of our campaign teams… It's not done, but we are so thankful for you.
Michele and her leadership team - working hard to put this event on and at least two others
Matt and his media team - just wait till you get to see it…
Mike and the invitation team - standing in the final hour to fill a needed role.
Quinton and the prayer team cannot move forward without.
Blake and Hannah… leading our youth and kids initiatives… so important… make up the present and the future church.
Johnothan and Bobby - have played a few extra roles in the past months… over and above… I am so incredibly proud of you and thankful for you.

Who’s excited to be here?
Tonight we gather as leaders and influencers of this young Church…
both in awe of what we’ve seen God do…
but also with great expectation of what we believe He is about to do.
Who gets to do this… just 5.5 years in… with all the chaos along the way… Even without it, what we’ve experienced at Northside is rare.
I’ve been in ministry a long time and I’ve seen God do some amazing things… but this is different.
In many ways, tonight marks the beginning of something massive at Northside… and I believe in our community, too.
As we sit here… this, right now, is a defining moment as we pursue HARD what it is we feel the Lord is calling us to…
The potential outcome and the Kingdom impact it would bring… is massive.
For reasons I don’t fully understand, I’ve seen God’s hand on Northside. I’ve seen His favor and blessing… and I think it part it has to do with…
Our desire to fight for humility… to know the truth about who we are while praising God for all He is.
Our faithfulness to preach the Gospel of Jesus in a world that desperately needs it.
Our commitment to keep working toward reaching the hurting, the lost, and the alone… here and around the world.
And our commitment to see people come to know and experience more and more of the fullness and freedom we believe God has for them.
FOR months now… There has been a LOT of planning and a lot of questions… and in some ways, we are just getting to the place where we can begin to answer a lot of those questions.
On a basic level, tonight I want to answer for you as leaders and influencers… the questions… What, when, how, and why… as they pertain to our future…
1. And then… share what it is I need from you…
What are we doing? (campaign slide up, accept for when another slide should be)
On a physical level..
On a physical level..
We are planting our flag… we are going home!
Northside has a well-thought-out master plan… (Slide)
I hope you can picture it… this is a beautiful church campus…
Our PHASE 1 goal…
Infrastructure…
A well for irrigation and fire suppression
Holding tanks for city water/everything else
Bringing in 3-phase electricity
Excavating
Parking lot
And the gym/multi-use facility
Gym floor plan
This will allow us to go home… as well as provide 24/7 access to the facilities (something we’ve never had)... that will allow us to take some needed and important next steps for discipleship, training, and outreach.
This facility is aimed at blessing our church family… but we’re also very passionate about it be a blessing within our commuity.
Phase 1 will feature…
Meeting spaces
Gym access with a wood floor
Children's wing with multipurpose function
Opportunity for daycare/preschool
Small Kitchen
Modulars for the youth/adult space
Ample parking
More comfortable chairs
Upgraded audiovisual capabilities.
From a square footage perspective, it's not a ton more in terms of what we currently use… the major differences would be…
It’s laid out far more effectively.
Parking
more/better used kids' space
24/7 access and what we can do with it…
It would be a mistake to step into this journey only thinking of it as a fundraiser. It needs to be more than that.
This is an opportunity, a stretching and faith-filled spiritual journey… as the Lord continues to build the DNA of Northside.
A spiritual journey
A spiritual journey
Where we respond to God’s overwhelming faithfulness to Northside.
Where, by faith, we invest in what we see God doing… as a way of seeing that work continue…
Seeking God and what He might have for us… and how He might want to use each and every one of us in the process.
We’ve chosen the theme…
“The Cornerstone Initiative”... Not only does it sound cool…
It reminds us of the primacy of Christ…
the cornerstone of our faith, our families, and our Church.
In biblical times, more time and intentionality were spent on choosing the cornerstone than the rest of the stones combined… it determined the size, strength, and even the purpose of the building…
And there is none greater than Christ.
Bad things happen when churches forget who the true cornerstone is…
We will fight to keep Northside centered on Christ.
This is not about a nice building, but making room for others in His family, the Church.
With a commitment to bless, serve, and reach this Community.
This is a God sized vision!
This is a God sized vision!
A church or age… our size… they say it can’t happen.
But I want to remind you…
They said it when I told them we were planting a church
They said it when I told them we were launching at a school
They said it when COVID hit
They said it when we were homeless and wandering
They said it when we set out to buy land
And they are saying it about this, too
It is the Northside Story… a story of God’s outrageous faithfulness in the face of what “we can’t do”
One of the things I love about this is…
It’s bigger than any one of us.
Honestly… I think it might be bigger than all of us.
It will require..
Our faithfulness
Our willingness to be stretched
Our willingness to invite others to participate because we believe in it
Most of all… the intervention of God Himself.
Knowing… that we are simply preparing and walking out what God has already prepared for us.
God has a plan… but we, His people, need to respond… with ears to hear, eyes to see, and the courage to obey.
God doesn’t change… and neither does the Gospel..
But this is one change we need to make as a way to fulfill what it is that God has called us to for such a time as this.
When are we doing it?
When are we doing it?
Today marks one huge step… getting our leaders and influencers on board and putting info in your hands.
We will do our public Launch on Sept 21… and start a 4-week spiritual journey
4-part sermon series
Opportunities to engage in prayer starting now…
We will provide 2-3 Town Hall-type meetings for those who want more information or have questions.
Sept 28 and Oct 5th, right after church
October 9th is our leadership commitment event… 6 PM at Spring Hill Country Club
October 12th is our commitment/first fruits Sunday
Oct. 26th will be our celebration Sunday.
In terms of when we could move into a new facility… a lot of that depends on how this capital campaign goes.
But… if God does what I think He’ll do… I think we are 2-3 years out.
How are we going to do it?
How are we going to do it?
I hope you see the potential.
I hope you’re as fired up as I am.
It’s going to take all of us.
It’s going to take all of us… even reaching out to those we know who may be interested in expanding God’s Kingdom in this way…
Who do you know that may want to invest in what God is doing here? If you set up the conversation, I am willing to go with you.
But before we can move forward… I think our leaders need to lead.
I think this group of people needs to prayerfully consider what sacrifice and generosity mean for them in this way.
For phase 1…
Which includes infrastructure, parking, gym building, and some modulars… together, we need to raise between 5-7 million.
I know… that is a big number… It’s a God sized number.
But if we don’t believe He can, I’m not sure why we are here.
This project began with a few people doing many things…
Today marks a move toward… many people doing one thing… participating in a spiritual journey that has stretched and molded… and strengthened our faith.
And personally, I am ready to… and believe that it will require the greatest financial sacrifice we’ve likely ever given.
Northside, hear me… It’s going to happen. Can you feel it?
But it's going to require each and every one of us…
It will require stretching and sacrifice… is it worth it?
It may require doing away with things we can live without… Postponing trips… making changes in our daily life, and possibly even having uncomfortable conversations with those who may want to invest in something that will impact God’s kingdom in such a powerful way.
I can assure you…
That wise decisions and counsel have brought us to this point of moving this vision into reality.
That our faith has been stretched as we’ve sought God… now for a long time in this direction.
We cannot do this alone… We need Jesus… and we need each other.
Why are we doing it?
Can I be honest with you… There is nothing about me that would ever choose to do something like this for fun.
John Maxwell said… “accompanying every great dream is a great burden.”... and that burden has been heavy. I’m so thankful I don’t carry it alone.
The why questions had to be settled LONG ago for us to sit here this evening, and it’s echoed into the very fabric and DNA that is so far Northside…
To honor and Serve Christ
To establish His Church here in North Albany
To reach out to, serve, care, and impact for this Community.
And He’s being faithful. We’ve seen His clear faithfulness…
We are out of room on most Sunday mornings
Parking, kids
This month alone… we’ve baptized over 20 people.
Missions giving… and footprint #’s (massive for a church our size)
# of Vols
# of ministry teams
# of people served by care team
We beleive that it’s God has called us to do…
The true blueprints for this project… are not on the architect's table…
They are found in scripture… read it… know it, lean into it… memorize it…
Ephesians 2:20–21 (NLT)
Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord.

Matthew 28:18–20 (NLT)
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Ephesians 4:11–13 (NLT)
Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

We are moving forward so that eternaties can be changed…
So that people can come to know and grow in the fullness and freedom that God has desired for them all along.
We still don’t know the scope of all that God will do this this season… but we know that life change happens one at a time… for which… we are all one.
What I need from you as a leader at Northside
It has been said that there are four levels of vision.
First, some people simply never see a vision. They are wanderers
Second, some people see the vision but never catch it… they are followers.
Third some people see the vision and personally own the vision…they are achievers.
Fourth, there are people who see, own and help others to catch the vision…they are leaders
Tonight… I am asking you for 3 things that I believe will play a huge role in…
Northsides future
In our ability to disciple people in greater ways
Impact marriages
Reach out to and teach kids and students
And impact our community.
I am asking you to stand… and join me in committing to these 3 things…
Will you commit to Seek God’s leadership. How might He specifically lead you to join in this journey?
Asking what sacrafice might look like for you and your family…
Will you honestly… SEEK HIM?
If so… Say.. I will
Will you commit to listening:
Take time to listen and discerned what God might ask you to…
Do…
Give…
And who He might ask you to talk with about it
IF SO, Say I WILL
Will you commit to obeying, NO MATTER HOW SCARY IT SEEMS
He either has us or He doesn't.
Will you commit to courageously obeying…
IF SO, Say I will
Over the next few weeks… I am asking you to even now… put time in your schedule… To turn off discractions… and to seek as a person, as a couple, and as a family… what it is that God might have you do.
We will gather on Oct. 9th… for a wonderful dinner… where our leaders… THIS group… will lead the congregation by turning in their commitments… at that gathering. And, once the leaders have made their commitments, we’ll have a good idea as to where this is heading.
Then… on Oct. 12th… we will have our first fruit and commitment Sunday.
And one last thing… Thighs like this can be hard and scary…
And… as a leader… no doubt people will talk to you.
One way that you can help carry this vision is…
Commit to praying for it every day.
Come to the elders with cares and concerns
Have a positive attitude… both privately and publicly
Encourage those around you to engage in this campaign
Lastly… the passage that God put on my heart when Northside was a nameless idea…
Exodus 33:15–16 (NLT)
Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.”
15 Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. 16 How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.”
NORTHIDE… are you ready?
It’s coming… Can you feel it?
LETS GO!
Close in prayer…
Thanking God for his unbelievable favor and faithfulness
Pray for each and every person in the room… to Seek, Listen and Obey
Pray that God… would do sea splitting… healing… life giving mirracles in this process
That HIS name… NOT NS…would be made great.
HIS vision… not NS… would happen
AMEN
Would you stand with me and give God all the praise and glory for all that He’s done…
Regardless… of how this goes. May we NEVER forget it.
He is Good… All the time.
