God speaks to The Woman

Genesis 3:16 “16 Then he said to the woman, “I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.””

The consequences of not following God are:

1) Relationship breakdown

2) Difficulty fulfilling God's directive

These go hand in hand, yet God doesn’t remove his directive; he only removes the full extent of blessing.

The serpent and the Ground are cursed

To curse is to remove God’s protection and favor.

Words, and God makes it happen to bring justice.

The man and woman have consequences

Genesis 1:28 “28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.””

Be fruitful and multiply has labor pain and relationship breakdown.

God doesn’t go back on his word. - HE KEEPS GOING FORWARD - isn’t annoying

He takes reality more seriously than we do.

Consequences for the man affect the woman, and the woman affects the man

Rule

Rule - to empower and not fall under its power.

Women will want both sexual intimacy and power in the relationship, and men will often just do what they want.

The woman keeps trying and getting frustrated

The man just rules over squashing intimacy

Control is not the way to intimacy

Notice how God isn’t controlling us

Removal of sin is the only thing that brings a proper relationship.

Jesus brings forgiveness by self-sacrifice and taking on what is not fair

How should we respond?

Men

Don’t enjoy the negative consequences of evil!

Women have had it rough.

Reading the Bible wrong

Paul is elevating women to be Christ-like in their area

Men hurt the church and families far more than they want to admit!

Don’t rejoice in the breakdown of a relationship

1 Corinthians 13:4–7 “4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

Men - don’t be selfish

Women

Your instinct to be a mother is a good thing.

Some may not feel that, and it's ok - maybe it comes and goes.

Fear and anxiety are part of this.

Recognize that your desire for your husband is a struggle that results from sin. It wasn’t meant to be that way.

Stop manipulating - when you are predicting outcomes and setting words or actions in motion, expecting something to go a different direction because of your words or actions. Seeing things and playing cards.

Married - out serve

Single - out serve

No covenant before God coming back.

God knows how you feel - He loves without being in a covenant

Relationship breakdown is a result of Sin - it is a consequence.

This is why Jesus comes and brings forgiveness
