Scripture Reading

Ephesians 6:18 “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”

Intro

Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,”
Ephesians 2:9 “not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Our Purpose Is To Do Or Walk In The Good Works Prepared Beforehand
The Armor Is Necessary To Protect Us In Our Purpose
The Devil’s Goal Is To Stop Us From Walking IN Our Purpose.
And Because He Cannot Possess Us, He Tries To Obsess Us.
He Obsess’s Us By Shooting The Fiery Darts Of Temptation Toward Us So That We Can
Ephesians 4:21 “if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:”
Ephesians 4:22 “that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,”
Ephesians 4:23 “and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,”
Ephesians 4:24 “and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
Ephesians 4:25 “Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.”
Ephesians 4:26 ““Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,”
Ephesians 4:30 “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
We Grieve The Spirit When We Do Not Walk In Our Purpose, And We Please The Devil When We Don’t Walk In Our Purpose
The Devil Attacked Jesus In His Purpose And He Attacks The Church In Its Purpose And He Attacks Us Individually Our Purpose
And Because Of This Attack We Must Be Ready With The Armor Of God And Prepared In Prayer.

This Is Why Paul Says:

Ephesians 6:14 “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,”
Ephesians 6:15 “and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;”
Ephesians 6:16 “above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”
Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;”
Ephesians 6:18 “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”

Pray Always For Yourself In The Spirit

Ephesians 6:18 “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”

Pray without ceasing

1 Thessalonians 5:17 “pray without ceasing,”
prayer - request made to deity
supplication - earnest or urgent request to God

In The Spirit

Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;”
We have to pray within the Word of God.

Pray Within The Will of God

John 9:31 “Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.”
James 5:18 “And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.”
John 14:13 “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

We Pray Within The Spirit Because The Spirit Is Warrior Too

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

Jesus was obedient to God and the devil attacked him in his purpose

See Matthew 4
If you be: Pupose
And for this reason Jesus prayed:
Mark 1:38 “But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.””
Luke 4:43 “but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.””
Matthew 26:39 “He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.””
Matthew 6:1 ““Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 6:2 “Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.”
Matthew 6:3 “But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,”
Matthew 6:4 “that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.”
Matthew 6:5 ““And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.”
Matthew 6:6 “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”
Matthew 6:7 “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.”
Matthew 6:8 ““Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”
Matthew 6:9 “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.”
Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:11 “Give us this day our daily bread.”
Matthew 6:12 “And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.”
Matthew 6:13 “And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

Pray Always For The Saints In The Spirit

Ephesians 6:18 “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”
perserverance - determined, persistent, and patient
supplication -

Jesus Prayed For The Discples

Luke 22:31 “And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.”
Luke 22:32 “But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.””
John 17:14 “I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”
John 17:15 “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.”
John 17:16 “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”

Pray Always For Those Who Preach In The Spirit

Acts 23:10 “Now when there arose a great dissension, the commander, fearing lest Paul might be pulled to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the barracks.”
Acts 23:11 “But the following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Be of good cheer, Paul; for as you have testified for Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.””
Courage is needed
The armor is needed
God is needed
Prayer is needed
To do the things God wants us to do!
Ephesians 6:19 “and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,”
The Bible Exposition Commentary Chapter Thirteen: You’re in the Army Now! (Ephesians 6:10–24)

Paul did not ask them to pray for his comfort or safety, but for the effectiveness of his witness and ministry.

The mystery
Ephesians 3:9 “and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;”
Ephesians 3:10 “to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,”
Acts 4:27 ““For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together”
Acts 4:28 “to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.”
Acts 4:29 “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,”
Ezekiel 3:27 “But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.”
