God chose Israel to be His people
Abraham’s blessing still valid - God often referenced His promise to Abraham before doing something Israel - e. g. freeing them and leading them to Canaan.
God’s blessing did not mean freedom from challenges or troubles. Israel went into slavery in Egypt. God’s blessing was their destiny in the Promised land.
Balaam announced to Balak that he could not curse those whom God blessed (Numbers 23:8, 20). Thus, God’s blessing cannot be revoked by a human, regardless of psychic connections. Balaam, who seemed to be determined to get around God’s expressed word that he should not curse Israel failed to do so, until he brought Israel to a point where Israel chose to wander away from God. As long as Israel herself did not venture to the territory of psychic powers. Only Israel, through disobedience, could undo God’s blessing.
Satan lured Israel to worship idols through sexual baits (Numbers 25). I alone have the power to undo God’s blessing. The sexual temptation is especial powerful, especially for men. On purpose Satan makes the sexual temptation pervasive an invasive because he knows that the end results are not only devastating but far-reaching. One sexual sin can break a marriage, bring into the world a child whose presence is a lingering point of pain to the father, the mother the whole family (including extended family). Even among God-fearing family members discord arises based on how to deal with a child.
