Ahoy sailors!
Welcome:
Welcome young sailors to another year of Patch Club! I’m so excited to see each and every one of you here tonight. Here at Patch club, our goal is to grow together in our relationship with Jesus, and as a crew of sailors, we spend our time together learning music, singing songs, memorizing the Bible, and last but definitely not least, we listen to Bible lessons and read at home to grow! Who’s ready for another year of adventures on the crew?
Recite Colossians 3:16
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Illustration: “How much power do you have?”
- Volunteers come up (1 at a time), and try to rip my book.
- Do they have all the power in the universe?
- I try… Do I have all the power in the universe?
Who has all the power?
God!
We often read the stories that are mentioned in our song and think that those wonderful things that happened to them could never happen to us. Stories like David defeating Goliath or Daniel being kept safe in a lion’s den sometimes don’t seem real to us. But that’s because we forget that God is omnipotent.
(NEW SLIDE)
Does anyone know what “omnipotent” means?
Definition: (Do a word breakdown) “omni” means all. And then there’s “potent”, what do you think that means? A potent smell (skunk)? No, that’s silly! It means power. God is all-powerful. God’s power is on display in David’s battle against Goliath...
David & Goliath
David & Goliath
(NEW SLIDE)
The Bible says was a huuuge man,
4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.
This is 9ft 9’!!! He was huge!
(NEW SLIDE)
Remember what David was like?
14 And David was the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul.
He was just a young little shepherd boy!
So, how would he ever have hope to beat Goliath? Was it his big strong muscles?
Of course not, he wasn’t strong yet! David’s secret was not his strength or his skills with a sling. David says the secret himself,
(NEW SLIDE)
37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.
David’s secret is that he served the omnipotent God!
Who remembers what omnipotent means?
All-powerful. We have that same all-powerful God at work in our lives. If you have trusted in Jesus as your Savior, Jesus has promised He would always protect you. Jesus promised that nobody can remove His children from His hand.
Illustration: Kid tries to remove item from my hand.
If you have trusted in Jesus, you are just like this rubber band, safe in the all-powerful arms of Jesus.
But if you have not asked Jesus into your heart yet, you are not Jesus’ child. The Bible actually says that,
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
God’s punishment for your sin is still on you. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Jesus showed us the way to Him. He lived a perfect life, He died on a cross for your sin and mine, and rose from the dead. And now he invites us to call on His name for salvation. If you have not done this yet and you would like to, talk to your mom and dad tonight, and they will help you make this life-changing decision.
