Luke 10:21–24 “At that time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure. All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal him.” Then turning to his disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see the things you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see but didn’t see them; to hear the things you hear but didn’t hear them.””
How often are you in a mode where you are looking for something obvious. (keys, phone, charger, etc.)
a few weeks ago at church…
Do you have people in your life who can not see the obvious about God. Have you ever stopped and considered what is Gods role in being found?
Luke 10:21 “At that time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure.”
Jesus rejoicing in the Spirit. (3 persons, one substance). They all have a role.
Who is the Holy Spirit:
Spirits role in the scripture: inspire and Illuminate
Jesus Prayer: Praise, acknowledgment of God’s Character, reasons.
Hiding truth from the wise and sharing with children.
Luke 10:22 “All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal him.””
First we saw Jesus in the Spirit, then we saw him praise the Father, now the Son comes front and center
The Father is giving the Son work.
The True nature of the Son is a not known
The Father is not know except by the son
Now they share that with a selection of others. Election/Predestination.
Luke 10:23 “Then turning to his disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see the things you see!”
Private word with the disciples: the twelve or with us? They are chosen of God and so are we.
Blessed are those… we are profoundly blessed.
Luke 10:24 “For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see but didn’t see them; to hear the things you hear but didn’t hear them.””
Moses, Elijah, other prophets, blessed with amazing insight. Did not have the insight we have. Kings David, Solomon: wanted the council of God we have they did not have it…
We have Jesus Christ, God in the flesh talking, and we have the illumination of the Holy Spirit.
Applications:
God reveals and God hides: He knows what is needed for knowledge of him and chooses.
We must be committed to the means of grace as the place of the revelation of God.
Special Private revelation: Good stewardship.
We know God because he has revealed himself expecting child like faith. receive as a child.
