To be a Micheal Jordon you have to not only have the talent but the athletic ability. I have seen good basketball players but not the athletic ability, it makes a difference.

Just like you can have the training to be a good person, morally correct but not have what it takes to go the next level.

I was raised this way

I knew the rules

I knew where I could bend the rules

I knew where I would get into trouble

I was taught good moral values - my dad was A good moral person till the day he died

My problem Growing up was my heart was still the same, I was a sinner with no savior, There was no reason to change because I was living a good moral life.

I still wanted to go against all I was taught.

Go ahead and stand as we read God’s word

1 Peter 1:10–17 NKJV

Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into. Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;

To live holy you must be saved

1 Peter

Salvation is once done, it is done forever. If you are saved, you are saved . You never will be lost. Those who trust Jesus and love Him are saved.

There is nothing of salvation that is outside of Christ.

No church can save you

Being baptized does not save you

Being a good person does not save you

The prophets who prophesied:

They did not taste of the grace you know, but they foresaw it.

They almost envied you in this gospel dispensation that you should live in so clear a light and should be fed upon such rare mercies.

What they longed for let us not despise what we have

Salvation is altogether of grace—grace that comes from God in His mercy to man in His helplessness.

The gospel does not come to you asking something of you

It comes to us, not as a reward for the obedient and deserving

We are not deserving of God’s grace

It treats with us, not upon the ground of justice, but upon terms of pure mercy.

As the Profits receive the message from the Lord and wrote things down it wasn’t for themselves but for us they never got to Live and see the resurrection

They told of a Christ who was actually to come in the latter days, to work out His redemption after they had all died in faith without a sight of His actual coming.

You and I live in the light of a finished salvation.

We have the book, we have the answers

God has appeared in human flesh;

Christ has borne the guilt of man; His atonement is completed.

Jesus has risen from the dead and gone into the glory, pleading for believers.

This is the gospel

Once we get saved we are filled with the Holy spirit

How diligently you ought to search the Scriptures and listen to the saving word!

Reading His word reminds of of His grace

It should be our delight to “read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest” the doctrines of grace.

Look Where the Angels Gaze

Have you never noticed in the streets that if one person stands still and looks up, or is occupied with gazing into a shop window, others become curious and look also?

I would enlist that faculty of curiosity which is within every man and prompt you to search

Many times because of their desire never want to search

Angels take a deep interest in the gospel because they observe God’s interest in it. That for which God cares, angels care for at once.

Have You Received Gift of Salvation?

Show Your Gratitude

You can bless Him with your voices. Sing more than you do. Singing is heaven’s work: practice it.

But keep the fire on the altar of your hearts always burning.

Praise Him, bless Him. His mercy endures forever, so let your praises endure.

Do not give Him mere words; they are but air, and tongues but clay.

We show our gratitude to others by maybe giving them something so how much more important should we show our gratitude to the Lord .

Be a Deep Student of the Things of God

I wish that I could stir up all of you who are saved to try to look more closely into the things of God.

I am afraid that we are going to have a greater proportion of superficial believers than we have had in the past, it is not a priority for them

2. Living Holy means to be set apart

As you are trying or even think about trying to be like someone else you got to prepare you got to have your minds in action of what you want to do to accomplish that .

It may be going out and hit hitting countless baseballs

It may be taking countless free throw shots

It may be countless bumps with a volleyball

It may be throwing many passes

What that does though it gets your mind in action it creates that muscle memory it gives you the ability to get better at what you’re doing if you prepare your mind for action .

Some it might be not lying to someone

You who have a hope of salvation should know the reason for the hope that is in you.

The bigger the fire the more fuel - you can put fluid on the fire but it will burn out

you need to add the wood

But you cannot keep a fire burning without fuel, and you cannot keep up real intensity and enthusiasm without a knowledge of Christ and an understanding of the things of God.

3. Living holy is living in Grace

But the one who saved you

Be holy yourselves

Be not only moral, upright, truthful, and so forth, but “be holy.”

That is a very high attainment: “Be holy.”

Children should be like their fathers. There are many children who bear, in their very faces, evidences of their sonship.

Monday Rhonda said - you sound just like your dad

You know who their fathers were by the image that the children bear. Oh, that it were always so with all the children of God: “You will be holy, because I am holy.”

Peter tells his readers that the prophets wanted to understand how God would bring hope and grace, and now that gift has come—in Christ.

Life may involve suffering, but Christians can look beyond temporary problems to the permanent hope Jesus gives.

God calls His people to holiness, not because they’re perfect, but because they belong to Him—chosen, loved, forgiven, and guided by His promises.

Practical Application

When facing a tough situation (like a broken friendship, a difficult school year, or family changes), remember:

Set your hope on Jesus: This means trusting that His love and promises stay true, even when life is confusing. Try praying, "God, help me focus on Your hope, even today."

Prepare your mind for action:

Instead of reacting out of anger or fear, pause and ask God for wisdom before you speak or act.

What is one things you can do tomorrow to be a positive (Christ-like) influence at school.

Choose holiness in your choices: Holiness isn’t being “perfect”—it’s aiming to do what’s right, even when others don’t.

If someone else is unfair, respond with kindness.

If you’re tempted to gossip, choose not to, because God says “be holy as I am holy”.

Definition of Gossip

Casual conversation or reports about other people that are not true , to make you look better than the other person.

If we are wanting to be holy and be like Christ that is where our identity should be and not trying to make ourselves better.

Remember you belong to God:

The Scriptures give hope. v. 14 — The Scriptures also lead to obedience (see v. 2). v. 15 —

Holiness is to the spiritual life what health is to the body. Be mature. Grow up.

The tough stuff doesn’t define identity—God’s love does.

Your identity is in Christ

People will say I am a husband, father, grandfather

But as I remind my grandchildren and I will tell them Papa loves you but Jesus loves you more

I want them to know that Jesus is the most important thing in my life and that’s where my identity comes from

If people at a psychiatric ward while I’m teaching a class they realize after the class is over they say are you a Christian because they see the difference in my life

Response time:

Do you need to get saved maybe salvation is the first thing that you need to do

Do you have a situation going on now in your life that you need to come and lay here at the altar come pray

Do you need to ask God to help you in your daily walk

Pick one situation you’re facing right now. Ask: How can I set my hope on Jesus here? What’s one choice today that reflects God’s holiness, even if it’s hard or unpopular?

Support a friend going through a tough time—remind them of God’s love, offer to pray with them, or simply listen and show kindness.

1 Peter 1:10-17 calls students to remember God’s amazing plan and respond with practical hope and holy choices, even when life is complicated.
