King | Part 11 | Salt and Light

Scripture

Matthew 5:13–16 NKJV

13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Jesus begins to talk about two things of value: Salt and light. These are things that would have immediately been seen as valuable to the listener.

I. I am Called to Lead (Discipleship)

We are called to spaces of influence.

Salt preserves and slows down the decaying process. We have a world that is decaying with the effects of sin.

We are to be a buffer to inhibit the decaying sin in our world by introducing the gospel and christian example.

We are meant to show the world how good God tastes in a bitter world.

Psalm 34:8 NKJV

8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

This is an experiential declaration of the believers who have placed complete trust in God!

SS: “ I trust him with my life!”

Our lives and our trust in dark times translate hope to the world.

We are called to lead and disciple with the PURE message of Truth

II. I am Called to Light the Way

Light of the world called to shine truth that will lead others out of the darkness that tries to conquer our souls.

There is the a fight for the souls of men.

Truth is perverted with edited sound clips and false ideaologies

There are many lost in life searching for truth while traveling down a murky path.

The way we live can lead them to Jesus

III. I am Called to be Bold

Matthew 5:16 NKJV

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

God is calling us not to hide but Herald his word and example through the way we live. Now is not the time be quiet. Darkness is the time for the believer to shine!

Power Principle: Now is not the time be quiet. Darkness is the time for the believer to shine!
