Count the cost what is the cost     (everything.)

The time to follow is now or it maybe never. God’s time is the right time

Never look back run the race to the end.

What are you called to do? To fulfil the function for which you were made.

The perfect definition. God made me to know him, to love him, and to serve him.

The instruction of Jesus is that we are to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect.

The way in which we can best be perfect is to fulfil perfectly the function for which we were made. (See Barclay on the Greek word for perfection.)

Put quite simply we have only one need and one function and that is to love. The catechism states: God made us to know Him, to love Him and to serve Him, etc.

Note: The central point is love. We were made to love.

Note: To know God must of necessity be to love God. No other conclusion is possible.

Note: To love is of necessity to serve

Note: God is love: To be made in the image and likeness of God means that our function is to love.  

The instruction of Jesus means we are on the God standard, i.e., when we measure ourselves up we are to compare ourselves not with each other but with God.
