Remodel Week 1– Reason for the Work

We need to BECOME like CHRIST

and that will take a REMODEL

Renovation, Remodel, Revival

We need to be Repaired from the damage of the Storm of Sin in our Life

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

This is the center of our series

We all are a HOUSE of the LORD, the Spirit lives in us, but our house is NOT in order, the condition is still a mess

We lay on the TRUTH of PHil 1:6

Philippians 1:6 “6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

And we see the condition —— this is the REASON we speak about today

2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Now no one already has the perfect house

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

We need to realize that God designed us for relationship with Him,

and only because of Jesus are we able to have this relationship. 

This week we learn the reasons why we need to decide to remodel.

Philippians 3:20 ESV

20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Colossians 3:2 ESV

2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Matthew 6:33 ESV

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

We need to Change into the Character of Christ

WE NEED A REMODEL - some minor some major

Here is truth —— the world, your family, your friends, your co workers

are not always going to like it

You will be in a battle,

John 15:19 ESV

19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

but take heart and remember

John 16:33 ESV

33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

we need to see the property

We get a google shot of the property, location on the map and then focus in so that we can see the property from above

Draw a line horizontally on your paper

Now make short vertical lines to divide it in to equal segments

These segments represent segments of your life in 10 year periods

Now take a few minutes and list three major wins or achievements in that decade

next we will make two major negatives during that period.

This happening in your life should be what God used to shape you

For me that looks like Cheri’s cancer, losing or changing certain jobs, raising kids, MOVE to NM

this is what was in my notes

I graduated high school in 1984 and celebrated my 18 year of perfect attendance in church

I thought religion was like a white board

I struggled with the hypocrites.

My mom was in greeting —- excuse me you are in my pew

lots of verbal and physical abuse through my childhood from my mother

I went to college played water polo

I dated and found out about adult life —- not what it is cracked up to me

20-30 years

Mortgage, insurance, kids

I got a good job, bought a house, a car and furniture

But some thing was missing I CAME TO CHRIST in 1989

In my early 20 a gentleman started to meet with me

I finally realized that I was missing something in my life and accepted Jesus.

I accepted Jesus, but did not know OR didn’t want to commit my life to Him

I needed to remodel

Next week we will go a little deeper

Today we started on determining the

WHY’

We need to Change into the Character of Christ

2. Recognize the Problem

We need a RENOVATION, WE NEED A REMODEL

We need to OVERTURN our WORLD

Believe

Baptize

Belong

Become

Be Blessed

Today we are going to take communion

In week we are going to take it for the next weeks

We are going to learn how to remodel our life’s to

Glorify God by growing ourselves and others in Christ Jesus.
