Why is this important?
Why is this important?
We want to see the comprehensive scope of God’s redemptive work in creation
The bible isn’t about destruction of the world and us being rescued.
It is about God’s restoration of all creation and how God redeems it despite sin.
We want to see our own place in this story
We will answer who i am? where i am? what’s wrong? what’s the solution? what time is it.
We want to see the central mission within the Bible story
Israel was to be a light for other nations.
Jesus gives the church the same mission.
Covenant
Covenant
We will see God using covenant(s) to form a special relationship with his people
The creation covenant, The Noahic, Abrahamic, Davidic, and the New Covenant
The Kingdom
The Kingdom
The Kingdom of God is all about his reign over his people and eventually over his entire creation.
In the covenants of the Old Testament , the focus is narrowly upon Israel yet always for Israel to be a light for other nations.
In the New Testament and New Covenant the kingdom is clearly for all nations.
God’s Plan for Redemption
God’s Plan for Redemption
God’s plan for redemption begins with him choosing people for himself (Israel) who will bring blessings to the nations, which is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ and extended through the church.
God’s plan of redemption is developed through his covenantal relationships with his people which find their fulfillment in Christ.

The Drama of Scripture: Finding Our Place in the Biblical Story The God Who Brings All Things into Being
The “heavens and the earth” (1:1) refers to the whole of creation. Light and darkness, day and night, sea and sky and land, plants, animals and humankind—all come from this God, from his powerful and good activity of creation. As von Rad says, “The idea of creation by the word expresses the knowledge that the whole world belongs to God.”
In Genesis 1 God’s word of command, “Let there be..” brings into existence a creation characterized by precision, order, and harmony.
