Elkanah (Husband)
Hannah
Peninnah
Give Brief summary of chapter 1
Connect Hannah to the parents of the Youth

And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

Elkanah loved Hannah more than Peninnah
1 Samuel 3:1-9
Jewish historian say Samuel was around 12yrs old when he was called by God
Summary
Scarcity of God’s Word (vv. 1–3)
“The word of the LORD was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation.”
Eli, now old and nearly blind, lay in his place, while Samuel was ministering in the tabernacle near the ark of God.
This sets the stage for God to break the silence and raise up a new prophetic voice.
God Calls Samuel (vv. 4–10)
The LORD calls Samuel three times in the night.
Samuel, thinking it is Eli, runs to him each time, but Eli sends him back to bed.
On the third time, Eli realizes God must be speaking and instructs Samuel to respond, “Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears.”
When God calls again, Samuel listens.
Tie it together
Your parents are like Hannah they plead and made petition to God for you for you but ultimately like Samual it’s up to you to recognize God’s voice
Samuel heard the voice of the Lord but wasn’t inclined to it, didn’t have relationship
Questions:
Have experienced a moment in your life were you felt God calling you?
You guys are the next generation, how you going to lead the new generation?
I’m asking you that question because, Samuel had someone like Eli to identify the word of the Lord. In that same way I want us, the leaders to be that with you

Help my Unbelief

Mark 9:21–24 “And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!””
This passage means a lot to me because I remember at a pivotal time in my life walk with I felt just like that: “I believe; help my unbelief!””
go into your testimony Easter Sunday service the songs finally had meaning to them
When he says, “I believe; help my unbelief,” he’s actively choosing to deny his fleshy emotions and choose to let God handle his situation.
Many times we are brought to dark times so God can call us to him.
Don’t let your circumstances or the lack of clarity surrounding them stray you away from God. But choose to have faith when things seem bad. Jesus says, “If you can!” All things are possible for one who believes.”
Have you expericed a time where your faith was low? or you couldn’t trust God with your situation?

God is in control

Psalm 139:1–8 “O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!”
Psalm 139:1–2 “O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.”
Search (Hqr): Examine, to consider in detail and subject to an analysis in order to discover essential features or meaning
***this is a godly search / not the way that is human re search
Talk about Research and Development
good knows your past, future and present
There’s noting that you’ve done that he doesn’t (Secret Sin) many times we try to hide things
He knows you better than you know yourself
He knows our inner lives better than we know them ourselves. So not only is there no need to pretend with God but there’s also no point in it! He already knows what’s in our hearts, but He doesn’t judge us or criticize us for our feelings. We can bring God the whole tangled-up mess, no matter how ugly it is—and then we may find we can take a step
If God can search your hard perfectly with no flaws, then he has the right remedy to fix it
The Lord has always known everything about me and you.
*********Relate back to audience / add personal experience
You could explore how the Psalmist acknowledges that even in the highest heavens or the deepest depths, God’s presence is inescapable. This part of the sermon might emphasize the comfort of knowing that no matter how high or low life takes us, God is with us, pointing to Jesus as Emmanuel—God with us—fulfilling the promise of His unending presence.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
Conclusion
Are you hearing God‘s?
You hear God by reading his word praying putting yourself in the things that are of God
The perfect example of that is Samual. He was serving the Lord as a young teenager being in the presence of the Lord. He heard God‘s voice, so I think we can apply that to our life. Are we putting ourselves in the position to hear God‘s voice?
To hear God’s voice is to be in his presence
