While I think now its silly to think of this and remember my grandfather saying its because God is careful
As we look through this series we want to make sure we understand the areas of our faith that are sometimes difficult for us to understand
Who and What
Who and What
When we discuss God were are not talking about describing something as simple as saying the person next to us.
As Christians we Believe that God is three separate but equal persons. We believe in one God but in Gods infiniteness there are three persons whom we will talk about over the next weeks.
When we talk about the trinity we discuss that God is Father, Son and Spirit. We believe that God is 3 in 1. Not 3 Gods.
What Does God Do
What Does God Do
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
God is the ruler and creator of all things.
6 Whatever the Lord pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps.
He is the king of all
2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
God is the creator and sustainer of all things through out all of history he have been behind it.
Sovereignty
Sovereignty
refers to his absolute and unrivalled rule over all his creatures and their circumstances. There is not a single being in all of creation that God doesn't know and create. the scriptures say that even the hairs on your head are numbered by God.
God is great and powerful. worthy of the utmost fear and adoration the scriptures show time and time theres is nothing that God cannot do.
It also shows that reverence is due to God as he is the King he is the supreme being in all of creation
Goodness
Goodness
God is always good.
9 The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.
6 The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,
20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
Who is God
Who is God
While the Bible is clear that we should have a Holy and reverent fear of God.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
We because of His great love for us his people we can call him Father
15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
Through what God has done for us in the person of Jesus we can be called the very children of God
God the father is loving and invites us into relationship with him where we can experiecne his goodness and love.
