Welcome:

We are in the Seventh week of a sermon series — Life in the Spirit.
To live a life pleasing to God requires the Holy Spirit. It’s non-negotiable. Without the Holy spirit, we can’t love God, live for God or love people. It’s the Holy Spirit that enables us to live a Christ centered life.
Today, I want to speak to people who are frustrated in their walk. Constant ups and downs, discouraged time to time, and feel an inconsistency in their life.
I want to serve you by teaching you the scriptures and providing a solution to these frustrating.

Main Passage:

Philippians 1:6 NLT
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Title:

The God who works it out.

Introduction

Story of being impatient.
(1) Our generation has a hard time waiting.
God wants us cultivating patience in our lives.
The ruthless elimination of Hurry: John Mark Comer, “Corrie ten Boom once said that if the devil can’t make you sin, he’ll make you busy. Both sin and busyness have the exact same effect — they cut off your connection to God, to other people, and even to your own soul.”
(2) When we get tired of waiting because we are weak.
We don’t have to do it alone; the Holy Spirit helps us and assures us that he’s working it out.

Context

If we share in his glory, we also share in his suffering (Romans 8:17)
Living in the spirit doesn’t mean the absence of suffering.
3 realities, future hope for creation, God’s children, and the confidence we have as believers (Romans 8:18-25)
There is someone else who groans to…

Bible

Romans 8:26–30 NLT
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

Transitional Sentence

In Romans 8:26-30, Paul gives us three powerful truths on how God works everything together for our good and his purpose.

Truth 1: The Spirit Helps Us

Romans 8:26–27 NLT
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.

Truth 2: God Works for our Good

Romans 8:28 NLT
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Spirit helps us and makes everything work together for our good and his purpose.
Luke 22:32 NLT
But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”

Truth 3: He is had made and is making us to be like Christ

Romans 8:29–30 NLT
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
Ephesians 1:4 NLT
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ — to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
