Intro

Mazevo church was born out of the desire of two families to gather together and make much of Jesus. We gathered around the Word, to worship together, pray together, and have community with one another. Tammy would prepare a meal after our gathering, and we would just spend time together, encouraging one another in the work that the Lord was doing through each of us. To summarize what Mazevo did back then, we can use three words. We would Gather, Ground, and Go.
Since then, our Mazevo family has grown. A lot. The location is different, we have proper sound equipment now, we have staff and so many volunteers that we could not possibly do with without. But while we celebrate so much that has changed, we also celebrate how much has remained the same. Hopefully today, over 5 years later, it’s still clear that the heart behind everything that we do is the same.
As a group of believers that call Mazevo their home church, it’s important that we remember why we do what we do. Each of us, as believers who call Mazevo their home church, have a responsibility, not to Mazevo, but to the Kingdom.
I can totally relate with those of you who are asking, “Where do I start? What does Paul’s call in Romans 12, to offer our lives as a living sacrifice, look like for me, in my particular season of life?” Or to you, who is asking, “Lord, are you sure you want me to do this?” It’s easy for us to feel overwhelmed, or question if we have what it takes to do what the Lord is calling us to do.
At Mazevo, we want you to have all of the support and counsel that you need to make those decisions. No one but the Lord is going to give you an answer to those questions, but our mission is for us to support one another as we all seek the Lord.
Using the book of Acts, we’ve observed a simple, biblical formula to do just that. Gather, Ground, and Go.
We Gather at the Table, Grounded in God’s Word through worship, prayer, and community, and we Go as Spirit-sent neighbors.

We Gather at the Table

So many of our good childhood memories come from a time spent around the table. There’s something special about being in community over a meal. That’s why we do it here, and that’s why we are all encouraged to invite others into our homes to share a meal and a time of fellowship. And ultimately, the table we gather around is the Table of the Lord. All that we do with one another is also a way that we have community with God.

Grounded in the Word through worship, prayer, and community

Our gathering are grounded in the Word. Our way of life, our worldview, the priorities that we have, are all informed by Scripture, the living word of God.
From that one primary grounding in truth, we worship, with the way we live our lives, love one another, sing God’s praises, remember and testify of His goodness, and so much more.
We pray together, here at church, but also together in each others homes, out in the community, or in private.
And we have community with one another, where we experience the love of God through His children

Go as Spirit-sent neighbors

The most loving thing we can do for our neighbors in response to Jesus’ summary of the commandments is to share the gospel with them. When we do that, we do that in response to the Spirit prompting us to “Go.”
From our gathering on Sunday, or your time in community outside of this building with our Mazevo community, we’re sent back into our lives, back into our homes, back into our jobs, back into our communities to make the name of Jesus great.
