King of My Heart
Gratitude
You Deserve the Glory
Obedient Generosity
The Lord Jesus requires us to give.
Matthew 6:2 NLT
2 When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get.
“when you give” not “if you give”!
Christian giving is NOT optional; it’s essential.
We often hear folks say: “In the Old Testament they had to give, but not in the New— now we only give if we want to.” Ouch!
This is clearly not Jesus’ teaching.
He expected all His followers to be givers.
Christians give.
Obedience is the question...along with “Are you giving?”

LESSON
My first lesson as a youth pastor
putting sand and rocks and water in a jar
Important things must go in first if not there won’t be enough room for them in life.
THE KINGDOM
Romans 14:17–20 NLT
17 For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too. 19 So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up. 20 Don’t tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember, all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble.
JESUS TEACHES BY PARABLES— WHY?
Matthew 13:11–13 NLT
11 He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. 12 To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. 13 That is why I use these parables, For they look, but they don’t really see. They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand.
The people were not able to understand
The disciples were poised or positioned to know more
POPULAR PARABLES
Prodigal Son (Luke 15.11)
Good Samaritan (Luke 10.25)
Talents (Matt 25.14)
The Sower (Matt 13.3)
Wheat and Tares (Matt 13.24)
In all of these Jesus was making a comparison of physical things to explain the spiritual Kingdom that had come.
Today we need the same thing.
dull of hearing
lack of seeing and understanding
popular ways have clouded our understanding of Truth
WHEAT AND TARES IS NOT THE SAME AS THE SOWER
The Sower is about different kinds of soil that the seed of the Word is sown into.
This parable of the Wheat and Tares is about Seeds being different people.
Sons of the Kingdom
Sons of the Evil One
1 John 5:19 NLT
19 We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one.
Wheat and Tares
This parable picks up where the Sower stopped.
It’s about the MATURING OF THE SEED IN THE PERSON WHO RECIEVED THE WORD.
Receiving the Word is receiving Jesus.
John 1:14 NLT
14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
Jesus is The Word that has come to save, redeem, and restore!
Matthew 13:24–27 NLT
24 Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. 25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. 26 When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew. 27 “The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’
Who sowed the Tares?
When to remove the Tares?
When the wheat has MATURED? (growing side by side)
Matthew 13:36–43 NLT
36 Then, leaving the crowds outside, Jesus went into the house. His disciples said, “Please explain to us the story of the weeds in the field.” 37 Jesus replied, “The Son of Man is the farmer who plants the good seed. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed represents the people of the Kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one. 39 The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels. 40 “Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world. 41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!
Good seed = Jesus
The field = the world
The weeds = the sons of the evil one
The enemy = the devil
The harvest = End of the age
Harvesters = Angels will remove the lawbreakers and dispose of them in the fiery furnace-place of weeping and gnashing of teeth
The Righteous Will Shine like the sun in the Kingdom.
So listen up.
We can spend our life trying to pull out the Tares, judging people and focused on sin… or we can let the implanted word, which is able to save our souls— do the work it was designed to do.
James 1:21 NLT
21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
The FOCUS is “your soul”
You need to focus on you and I need to focus on me!
This is what James is saying...
The spiritual life, through the Word of God, comes into the natural person and organizes all of that life—vitality and energy given by nature at birth in the person’s body and social setting.
Out of this comes the fruit of the Word of God, which is our life as a son or daughter of the kingdom.
When we are commanded to put off the old person and put on the new, we do that by putting all of the natural power that runs through us—physical and psychological — through Christ.
In this way, we put on Christ...
Romans 13:14 NLT
14 Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.
Ephesians 4:24 NLT
24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
Doing this we become seeds planted in the world to renew and redeem it through the fruit we bear.
John 15:2 NLT
2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
You have the Capacity to take more and more of the Kingdom of into the world everyday as we surrender our lives to Him.
like being the wheat that MATURED among the TARES.
ONE MORE PASSAGE
Jude 22–23 MSG
22 Go easy on those who hesitate in the faith. 23 Go after those who take the wrong way. Be tender with sinners, but not soft on sin. The sin itself stinks to high heaven.
NEXT STEPS..,
Life brings so man opportunities and we have to be discerners of the Kingdom.
Everyday you have to ask Father for the help of the Holy Spirit to help you discern the spiritual kingdoms that we live in.
PRAY FOR THOSE WHO NEED DISCERNMENT AND HEALING
