Shabbat Shalom
John Chapter 12 expository
the Lord is constant and is trying to do something we can either chose to align ourselves with it or we can choose to block it.
Explain Hindering faith
Prayer
1-3 Mention Mary
4-6 Judas is masquerading as a hero but in fact so far removed from the Lord’s will that he uses good to justify evil.
Judas: Pretends to care about the money going to a good cause but in fact cares about his own selfish gain
He steals what belongs to the Lord
Judas does not even attempt to understand the Lord’s will because he is too focused on his own ambitions to the point that he has twisted and used good things for his advantage.
So are we so disconnected from God that we not only have our own plans but also our own ways of covering it up
7 Yeshua reveals a part of the Lord’s plan to block and counteract Judas’s plot
12-16 the crowd misapplies the scripture
The Crowd:
Think that a Maccabean king has come to Jerusalem.
They don’t understand the type of Savior that Yeshua came to be
They understand the scriptures but are applying them incorrectly
Are we reading into the scripture and applying the wrong things as the will of God rather than seeking him.
20-22 interesting that the Greeks are joining with the Jews at the feasts
23-26 Jesus speaks on himself and what the father’s will is and he teaches us to be by his side and copy his example
27-33 The Lord gives them a sign so that they will understand
34-36 The crowd doubles down on their own understanding and Yeshua answers them and leaves
I wonder why none of them said I believe that the scriptures mean this but you say it is this. Let’s ask the father and see which one of us is right.
44-50 Yeshua clues us in to the key to not hindering faith which is to submit to the Father’s will so that what he does we do.
We have to chose a faith that we though we may not understand what he is doing we can have faith that His will for our lives is perfect but we have to listen to Him in order know where to go
There is good news that we can be used by the Lord either way but don’t you want to be on the path that is aligned with the Lord rather than a hinderance.
The two ways that we can hinder faith is 1 to be like judas who stopped listening to the Lord’s will and became so deep in sin that he started to justify it. The second way to hinder faith is to be like the crowds who stopped listening to the Lord’s will and assumed that they understood everything rather than testing what they knew.
Led them to repentance for both of these areas
