1. Why Diversity Matters to God

Creation: All people bear God’s image.

Genesis 1:27 – “So God created man in his own image… male and female he created them.”

God’s Covenant Promise: From the beginning, God promised to bless all nations.

Genesis 12:3 – “In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Christ’s Mission: Jesus died for people from every tribe, language, and nation.

Revelation 5:9 – “By your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.”

The Church’s Unity: The gospel unites Jew and Gentile, breaking down dividing walls.

Ephesians 2:14 – “For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.”

2. Why Diversity is Good for the Church

Reflects God’s Kingdom: A diverse church displays what heaven will look like (Revelation 7:9).

Shows the Power of the Gospel: Only Christ can unite people across race, culture, and status (Galatians 3:28).

Strengthens the Body: Different gifts, backgrounds, and experiences enrich the whole church (1 Corinthians 12:12–27).

Witness to the World: Diversity demonstrates that Christ is Lord of all nations, not just one group (Matthew 28:19–20).

Encourages Humility & Love: Learning from those different from us helps us grow in Christlike compassion (Philippians 2:3–4).

3. How Diversity Can Be Pursued in Church Membership

Preach the Whole Gospel: Lift up the truth that Christ reconciles all peoples to God and to one another (Eph. 2:13–16).

Practice Hospitality: Invite and welcome those from different backgrounds into homes, small groups, and worship.

Cultivate Leadership Representation: Encourage and disciple leaders from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Prioritize Listening & Understanding: Build genuine relationships and learn each other’s stories.

Pray for It: Ask God to make the local church a foretaste of the heavenly gathering of all nations.
